The following is my JSGME MOD installs. When I go to Nav Map screen, and zoom into my sub marker I started getting CTD.

3000 Yard Bearing Tool (1680x)

When I uninstall the 3000 yard bearing mod the problem doesn't occur.
Now I am running this on a MAC but can someone suggest what might be the cause. I've run this MOD before but I had to re-install the game and now I'm getting these CTds. The Mac emulates Win 7 and installs the game as normal.
Thanks

Are you matching it to your screen resolution, I know he made several so you can choose.

Yes, and I tried other resolutions too. Must be something missing in the in the Win7 wrapper. Wondering if anyone else on this forum has tried SH4 on a Mac using Wineskin wrappers!

Sounds like the tool you were using was causing the problem.

With TMO the modder Ducimus recommends not using other mods because of the way files can be overwritten that might mess things up.

Aside from the TMO mod myself, I only use custom sub skins, Radio mods for oldtime radio shows and music and WWII news.

Oh, and Websters Smaller Rain.

But with the sub skins, and radio stations it looks like I have more there and would be looking for trouble, but what I have added, hasn't caused any over Writing that is critical to the file structure TMO has.

"Mod-soup" as we call it.

The "3000 yard Bearing Tool" is a memory hog, with a capital "H"!

In order to have the 3000 yard Bearing Tool accurately read a range (what's the point of having it if the tool doesn't measure correctly?!), the size of the image needs to match the size of the map, which is determined by the resolution screen size you set the game to for your system. The larger the screen resolution you use with your system, the larger the Bearing Tool has to be in order to read accurately. At a resolution of 1680x, the image of the map bearing tool is 73x73 inches wide! That's over 6 feet in width!! That's a BIG image.

I just took these in-game photos of the TMO 2.5 map with the 3000 yard Bearing Tool in place. No CTD's when changing the map zoom feature; accurate measurements when using the ruler to measure distances.

What's the conflict? I see no trouble with the two mods running together. What about the "list as long as your arm" mods you use? Well that's the other story. Any one of them could be changing something that when the 3000 yard Bearing Tool is activated, you'll get a problem. That's really up to you to determine if you're bent on using the number of mods you have.

As I said, the 3000 yard Bearing Tool is a memory hog due to the size the image has to be for the resolution you use. It'll take a couple of horses to pull it off with your system. Could be that's your only problem.

I see no problems with your mods as I've ran them all one time or the other and myself use several mods by others and myself. I've also ran the 3000 yard tool and didn't notice any issues. I wonder if the bigger protractor is conflicting with the 3000 tool in any way.

Here's my mod soup that I have played with and tweaked to my liking for the last year.

I suspect the issue lies with the wrapper (Wineskin) used by Mac OS to run this PC game. When I run under Bootcamp, everyhting is fine. I've sent a request to the author of wrappers asking for is opinion. I simply posted here to see if anyone saw a possible cause associated with zooming. I think CapnScurvey's memory warning is it and that the Wineskin wrapper has a memory "limit". I tried the 1200 x resolutions and they fail the same way, btw.
Thanks for your replies. Your helping me continue to learn about this game which is as much fun as playing it.

Congrats on getting Silent Hunter 4 to run under Wine at all! That beats all my attempts by a long shot. Great job there!
