I myself would really like to see Obsidian be involved as they where with FO:NV I think they did a very good job and FO:NV felt more like the originals more than likely because some of the folks at Obsidian worked on the old time Fallouts.Story/plot wise I would actually like to see something that takes place at an earlier date prior to the original Fallout I think something set at an earlier date has a lot of plot potential also it would be interesting to see the wasteland at a point in time much closer to the bombs dropping seeing how everyone is just starting to pick up the pieces and form settlements and trade.

I would also like for the choices that you make with in relation to various settlements and factions be much more ambiguous perhaps more situations where must pick one side or the other but at a point where you have little information about the two sides and you are therefore forced to make a much more sudden decision.

Setting wise I am not so sure we already have the west and the DC area covered maybe some new region would be interesting and makes things more fresh.

I would prefer Obsidian to be involved. New Vegas felt like Fallout was supposed to feel. However, as long as the Skyrim engine is used, which it almost certainly will be, I will be happy. Frankly, Skyrim with guns sounds pretty great right about now.

I would like someone to remake Soldiers of Anarchy with the Fallout 3 or Skyrim engine from a 1st person perspective......

Just sayin.

I'd rather Fallout 4 be Todd Howards team.

I feel like NV fleshed out alot of features and was a good game but when it comes to Beth I feel like Todd is the guy that blazes new creative trails.

Fallout 3 was a GREAT game. NV was just Fallout 3 but a little better.

So yeah I will support Fallout regardless and buy the next one, as I will all Skyrim content and the next Elder Scrolls. BUT I feel like if Todd isn't in charge of Fallout 4 and its not his team then it won't be as good, I don't really want obsidan mucking around in the Skyrim engine making a brand new Fallout experience. PLEASE leave that to Todd Howard and Co.

Out curiosity at what point do you get introduced to the Fallout line?I ask because I do agree that FO3 was great but it did lack to some extent the feel of its forebears it certainly was a good and fresh take on the Fallout universe but it just lacked the Fallout lore feel for me.I notice that the old school Fallout fans seem to like FONV more and the folks that got introduced later tend to like FO3 more.

Why not have both the FO3 team and the Obsidian FONV team all work together?I think that would make a really good game after all from what I gather Beth handed FONV to Obsidian so they could focus more on Skyrim and I think they also wanted to see what ideas they had for Fallout I think it was a dry run so to speak for future collaboration. There is no denying that FONV uses alot of plot elements from the canceled Fallout Van Buren (aka Fallout 3) so I would like to see something completely new come along.

I played the original Fallout for the first time in 2004, a friend of mine was shocked I never heard of it and let me borrow his copy. I loved it. I then went on to buy Fallout 2 and enjoyed that.

I know what your saying with NV the dialogue is better, the entire game is more fleshed out then 3. Its better then 3.

However I still feel like NV is just an expansion a nod to the origin if you will classy on Beth's part and a financial success, a great addition to the rich Fallout universe and I would LOVE them to do something after Fallout 4...

I still want Todd Howard to make Fallout 4 though. At this point its no secret if you like Beth because of Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and/or Skyrim... Todd is that guy and fact is he is the Golden Goose of Beth I want him behind the controls.

I know Obsidian will do the franchise right, and make it more to its roots, but I know Todd will make an amazing game let his track record speak for itself. The worst you can say is the buggy release thing, which ALWAYS gets cleared up for the most part via patches Beth games always tend to have a few immortal bugs as is the poison of such huge worlds. However he is no peter molyneux, Todd Howard delivers on his promises, and makes great games.

Obsidian doesn't have alot going for it these days. Alpha Protocol was barely average. They had a host of blah games, and of course they took NV and made a great game but honestly they took Todds baby and polished it up.

This is of course just all my opinion and probably even unfair to some extent but Todd Howard just hasn't let me down yet and has really given us some great games.

I would have to disagree to some extent FONV is the most recent game (as far as I know by Obsidian and they do work for larger publishers developers so you can not always blame them for mistakes if they had to work under a rushed dead line(super common these days) then I feel that is more the fault of the publisher that contracted with Obsidian for making them push a game through.

The reason I think that Obsidian should work on the remaining Fallouts is because several of the higher up guys there worked on the "original Fallouts and the canceled Van Vuren as well so in the end Fallout is truly their legacy and i am glad that they got the chance to work on FONV because they did a really good job.

I think Beth has the rights for long enough to publish two more FO games which means more than likely they are going to release another "side" story Fallout before they release 4.I think you are misunderstanding a little bit though I never said that I do not want to see Howard not work on the next games.I want the next Fallout's to have the best potential and that would mean the folks that worked on FO3 at Beth (including Howard)and the Obsidian people that worked on FONV.I am pretty sure that Howard and Beth must have highly approved of the Obsidian team other wise they would not chosen them to work on FONV the fact that they did and that FONV was very popular means that surely in future Fallouts they will work together again or on a larger scale next from what I understand Beth allowed Obsidian to do the majority of the work on FONV and Beth was basically just the publisher.

What I would like to see is simple; less CTD and better game balance.

Both Fallout 3 and NV( especially New Vegas) were finicky in the extreme and would crash for any reason or no reason on even the most efficient machines. This was and still is extremely annoying. There are locations in NV that are almost impossible to explore (Devil's Throat, anyone?) because of rampant CTD.

Also, the game needs to be balanced better. Fallout 3 was good, but had a few hiccups in its difficulty, which were noticeable. New Vegas overcompensates with its hundreds of uber-Deathclaws and then cranks it up from 11 to 72 on the difficulty scale in The Divide. I don't mind a challenge, but it was more than obvious that it was a "Take That" from the developers to the gamers who wanted the game harder. :nope:

Balance, folks. It's hard to do, but makes the most people happy.

Fallout New York. Not just the city, but a representation of the entire state/area, kinda like how New Vegas simulates nearly the entire SW.
It would be cool to see the mangled bridges. Maybe even find a way to include vehicles.

You would think logically it would have been a priority target for nuclear destruction by the Chinese. I am not just saying that because I want to see a bridge I cross a few times a week under the duress of heavy traffic mangled into nuclear oblivion.:O:

Hopefully I will run by that jerks skeleton in game, who rear ended me, then faded back in traffic a few weeks ago, maybe launch a few fatmans at his car.

I did not really have all that much trouble with CTDs with either Fallout I find a good rule of thumb with any Beth game is to turn every auto save option off and always save manually and always use a new save spot as well that alone goes along way.I have been to all the places you mention with no troubles at all and I run some mods with FOMM so i am even more prone to suffer a crash here and there every PC is a little different I suppose.

I thoght that Fallout 3 was too easy and that you leveled up way too fast and that FONV was much better balance wise I felt that every DLC for FONV had some tougher enemies except for Honest Hearts all three DLC where tricky in particular if you played with hardcore mode on I found Dead Money to be the hardest one thanks to the gas clouds which in hardcore means that you always take damage while out in the open and lots while inside a cloud.

The trick to dealing with death claws is some AP ammo(or the Brush Gun) and good sneaking just grab yourself a hunting rifle, trail carbine,or this machine with AP or the Brush Gun with regular or hand loads and sneak up onto a death claw and you can often times pop them in one or two shots thanks to the critical sneak.See that is what I like about FONV it plays like the older games basically there are things you should not mess with early in the game or with the wrong type of weapon. But really by level 11~12 if you have been focusing on guns and sneak and getting perk that increase your crit chance you should not have too much trouble with most Death Claws.Except for RWWAR!! I did not find the Death Claws that much harder and the ones in LR level with you unlike the other death claws and most other NPCs in game so no matter what they are going to be hard. Also Death Claws are supposed to be hard to kill and deadly that is how they where in the originals in FO3 they made them far too easy.

look it up on the fallout wiki under fallout new vegas death claws http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Wiki (sorry for some reason links are not working as they should for me) but if you read the data taken right from the GECK(game files) you will see that they are actually well balanced.

"Deathclaws found in The Divide level with the player, increasing in power at player levels 30, 40, and 50. At higher levels they are noticeably more powerful than deathclaws from the Mojave Wasteland, with higher health and a much more damaging melee attack."

I really do not think that FONV lacks balance to be honest I think they got it correct. Also do not forget that Lonesome Road was designed for play late in the game so the lower in level you try it the harder it will be.I tried it at level 14 and it was tough but I liked the challenge. If anything FONV is a good example of how a game should be balanced and progress. All of the interesting areas like Black MT are intriguing but you will get your but kicked early on I like that because it makes you want to explore and develop your character.I think that one of Fallout 3 weakness was poor balance I killed Corneal Autumn in one burst the final boss in one shot? Boring. Now the end of NV a having to fight Lanius that was the toughest bosses in Fallout since Fallout 2 I liked the fight with Salt Upon Wounds as well as Ulysses(who you don't even have to fight at all if you pass a speech check or via another method) but those fights actually challenge you(I play on very hard/hardcore I have messed around with lower difficulties and it seems well balanced to me as it gets much easier).

Stealhead, my problem with FO3 was the constant need to go through maze tunnels to get around, while New Vegas was open space, with more nastier enemies. There was that "artificial barrier" thing there that served only to slow you up, with little to add to the experience. While at least a newbie with sniper rifle has a chance on a deathclaw from far range.

Oh gee, another subway, because, even though i can carry a huge gatling cannon and thousands of rounds of ammo, I cannot jump over a waist high pile of rubble, I gotta take the subway maze.

I feel much the same as you, as NV was much better polished.

On a side note, inc rounds from a AMR in sneak drops most deathclaws one shot. Or not even in sneak if you crouch and hit the head as much as I do. (30 sneak)

And the big ones that take more than one shot, fumble around, allowing you to get multiple shots off before they even realize your position.

Deathclaws in the open are easy, go sniper, and melee (unarmed or armed) and you will own anything in NV.

2 step goodbye+ unmodded AMR and incindiery (sp) rounds= invincible. (disclaimer, proper crit perks needed, especially for the unarmed) Punch and run back, I crit 90% of my shots, and the 2 step goodbye, gives a nice explosion.) Bloody mess is pretty, and super effective.

I don't ctd much either. Windows 7 x64. With no crazy tricks to make run right either. (unlike fo3, where I had to tweak my cpu core usage to make work)

My experience was the total opposite. F3 featured a much longer grind for leveling. FNV practically threw XP at for for nearly every little thing. I was level 50 before half of the content was completed.

I would like to see Fallout 4 set somewhere in Europe.
And that they change the levelling system as you levelled far too quickly in Fallout 3

I doubt they will do New York. Americans are extremely sensitive about that area since 911 and I don't think Beth will go there... sure an alien invasion there but a fallout game eh... I don't see it.

3 ran worse because of Games for Windows BS... man I hate that.

NV had steam and ran pretty much flawless on my system.

Europe would actually be a good idea. I am looking for canon (yeah, lore junky) material on the fate of Europe during this Chinese-American Escalation, but find little info on what happened. (alot of hypotheticals, but no facts)

It would be nice to see what happened.
Or even a Fallout from the Chinese point of view, as they were no doubt Nuked just as hard as we were.

Yeah, I understand. It is a sore point. Destroying NY in media has been off limits, unless it is an alien or a tidal wave from a meteor.
(like a mild version of European Denazification laws)

Even the movie Die Hard: With a Vengeance, would have been frowned upon if it wasn't made 6 years before the fact. (A film dedicated to terrorists in NY, and a very graphic bombing of a subway train under Wall Street.)

I still think its passing on a great setting. Or maybe because it would be a first priority target in a nuke strike, it could still be too heavily irradiated to support life? Then again FO3 was in DC.:hmmm:

ok I went too far, just hypothesizing.:D

I think it is fairly likely the various nations of the former European Commonwealth nuked each other into rubble, no doubt helped by the Soviet Union, US and China.

I would quite like a Fallout game set in Europe as well, it would be interesting.

Don't get me wrong I think NY would be a great setting and I wouldn't be one of the people upset and wanting to lynch Beth for doing it... but for every American like me there is 50 super sensitive ones that would be completely outraged by the very idea of the next fallout game being set in NY. The suits at Beth I'm sure they are aiming for mass appeal and little controversy.

Europe would also be a great setting. I think it is a sort of missing storyline lost in the Fallout lore.

China I don't really find as appealing though.

Regarding Deathclaws, there is a difference between hard and cheap. The only effective means of killing them is an AP round sneak attack critical headshot with all of the skills necessary to exploit this. It wouldn't be so bad were it not for the sheer volume of Deathclaws in the game. It is funny you mentioned Rawwr because I did OHK him with a fullu upgraded holorifle and all the perks that exploit energy weapons. (Given his stupid stats, it was a VERY GOOD thing I got the OHK) All I am saying is that the developers went overboard. As much as I hate cazadors, I saw them as a fair challenge. The deathclaws can be strong, but they were overused. Bethesda could have done better than spam the player with its demonic spiders. This is why I said it was a "take that" for Fallout 3.

I was unaware that the autosave was the CTD issue. I have always observed that the game usually has a CTD during a sound processing moment where an area has a LOT of polygons to render at the same time.

As far as Legate Lainus is concerned, I took the third option, thanks to my Speech 100.:D

The tough enemies in FONV follow the pattern set in the old day Fallouts in that they are very tough the best bet was to shoot a death claw in the eye(the woman in Sloan mentions a death claw her mother had having been shot in eye that was a throwback to FO1and FO2).

The Death claw is supposed to be the hardest common (there really are not that many either and you can avoid most of them in the game short of the ones in Lonesome Road) the death claws in FO3 where a terrible insult to Fallout lore to frank.

@Drewcifer I think all Fallouts will be set in the US there is just something very intriguing about such a huge and powerful nation falling also much of the story and plot line relates to the US government and the Enclave there are many questions about them that remain unanswered but who the Enclave are is a big part of the story line as is their tie in with the US government and the cause of the great war(according to lore it is never fully reviled who started the war China or the US and there is some implication according to the writers that the young Enclave actually started it) Much of the game also focuses on old American military and government experiments which is why every fallout game takes place in a region that has some relation to government projects.

I think that something taking place in other parts of the west are likely next locations Colorado was going to have a large role in Fallout Van Buren before it got canceled and this region is alluded to a few times in FONV. Ulysses was from a tribe in Colorado and the Legion dog trainer says that the best dogs come from Dog Town(wasteland name for Denver) Big MT is loosely based on a facility that was in Colorado that would have had an important role in FOVB.Also you have NORAD in Colorado as well.

My guess is that the next FO will have some relation to FONV (but be set at an earlier date) and take place in Colorado and perhaps Utah,Arizona, and New Mexico as well lots of possibilities running around in a Fallout universe version of that region.Something else they could run with is the expansion of the NCR set at some point prior to FONV.But I think having to run around in CO,AZ,NM, in particular has much more potential I would like to see the region that had such an effect on Cesar.

@soopaman you will not find much on Europe because according to the writers of the first two Fallouts they do not care more or less it is explained that from around 2050 or so the entire world started fighting over the remaining resources Western Europe fought the Middle East and they wound up exchanging a few nukes then when then oil dried up there was no reason to fight all of the remaining nations collapsed so they are just wastelands but with little nuclear war damage in most places. It is implied that China controlled most of Asia and Russia(how they managed to so easily attack Alaska).I do not recall where in the PDF i read but they do clearly state that they have 0 intrest in places outside the US as future FO locations sorry Europe and there is no missing lore it is all minor side story at best.

You should take a look at the Fallout Bible if you are a lore nut you will greatly enjoy it. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Bible there is a link on that page to No Mutants allowed there you can D/L a PDF of the entire thing it will answer many questions you might have.
