Urgent clarification on SH4 1.4 patch

G'day gentlemen. I was told that an SH4 patched to 1.4 would still say 1.3 in the menu screen
on the bottom right corner? I was told this is due to a typo error. Is this true?

Diopos, do you know how to get 1.4 for steam? In steam it's stuck at 1.3.

There are people in the steam forums who say to change the download region to Canada.
I've tried all 3 parts of Canada which are available but it still won't auto update to 1.4

Mine is from Steam, and it's patched to 1.4. I just downloaded it yesterday, if that matters. And I'm in Canada.

The current, up to date version of the game is 1.5. Why not just purchase the "Gold" version on disc? That's all you need. No worries about Steam or D/L activation problems. What's more, most of the major mods are all geared towards 1.5. Just a thought.:hmmm:

Agreed - the U-boat missions add-on patches the game to version 1.5. Even if you don't care for U-boats, it's still good to have for the reasons Fish mentioned.

I bought it off of Steam because I can't find a physical copy of it anywhere, and I don't have a credit card so I can't purchase it online. I do have PayPal, but I'm the sort who wants instant gratification, so buying it on Steam was a no-brainer for me. I'd prefer a physical copy, and I may end up ordering one off of Ebay or something, but for now I'm stuck with the Steam version. I did end up buying the U-Boat missions as well, so now my game is 1.5.

I don't have a credit card either, but I buy stuff off Amazon all the time using a direct link to my bank account. It's no less secure than a credit card. Of course Paypal is better, and I use that too.

Are you Canadian? Cuz I don't think they accept Canadian bank accounts. Though I've never tried.

If I'm able to buy off Amazon, I will definitely use the link at the bottom of the page. I gotta support SubSim, it's been a great lifeline for my SH3 career for years!

Edit: I tried to see if I could order it through Amazon, but it said they can't ship Silent Hunter 4 Gold to my address. I'm guessing because I'm Canadian. I guess I'll try Amazon.ca, though SubSim won't get any commission out of it.

Yes it does. I do have a debit card from my bank, and it works like a credit card but can only take from what I have. There is only one financial organization that will give me credit, and it's not Amazon or my own bank.

You on disability too? I've been on a medical disability for close to 10 years. 29 years old, and I got all my work experience between the ages of 14 to 20.

Anyway, my bank doesn't have debit cards that you can use online. Not yet anyway. Maybe I'll see if I can borrow a friends credit card, cuz I'd really prefer to have the physical copy of SH4. What's the included manual like? Is it the same as the manual you get with the download version(if you've seen it)?
