Having fun and then it will not load

I am on my 8th patrol and all was going well. I save ( most of the time ) alone on the surface. However, I have saved in the heat of the battle and had no problum reloading the next time.

Last night I came on to Two Task Forces that would intersect and headed for them. Upon picking up the sonar info, but had to save and turn off my computer due to a realworld situation ( my wife ).

This morning nothing will load all the way back to several "Very Safe" saves.

The trouble with Saved Games that fail to load, in my experience anyway, is that it's hard to pinpoint the exact cause. I used to experience them infrequently, yet consistently. Since I began saving my games from the Control Room, they're virtually nonexistent now, though it is my understanding that others members save from any screen they desire and never have to deal with them. In your case, it seems that you may have had to Save & Exit in a hurry, which has caused at least two failures to load in my experience and probably because I did something wrong; not giving my full attention to the Save process. I've also had issues when my AnitVirus or other programs were auto-updating while I was in the process of saving a game.
I have found these "failures to load" to be an irrevocable issue and always had to go back to an older save. Someone posted a quick fix (I don't remember the thread) but it never worked properly for me. That is, the game would load but I would encounter unusual game issues/effects afterward.

Thanks, I will go to the control room ( command room "key stroke F2?" )while on the surface and save there ( also while all alone in mid ocean ).

Maybe SH6 will have this pain in the *&^%#@ solved.:salute:
