Hello everyone, name is Zach, and back in the day I was an avid player of SHII (But I was a 11 so I cheated alot). I just recently got SHIII and fell in love with the series all over again.

I have two quick (pobably borderline stupid) questions to ask:

1. What does Kaluen mean?

2. When attempting to evade a destroyer group, and they are pinging you, will facing directly away from them or directly at them reduce your signature to them or will it remain the same?

Welcome to Subsim.

1. Kaleun in the Kriegsmarine was abbrevation for the captain of the Uboot who usually held the rank of Kapitanleutnant.
You can find more here: http://www.uboat.net/special/abbrevat.htm

2. I think yes. You should keep your engines at 75rpm which give you a speed of 1 kt. This has to be set manually as the "silent running" option of the game sets speed to 2 kts. You have to use "silent running" to keep the noise down: it stops the pumps and the reloading of torpedoes.

Thank you for the warm welcome all and for anwsering the questions. I might have a few more as I remember them.

Good. The sooner you see it the better for you, as all u-boat subsims are based on the movie, and you'll recognize the interiors as soon as you see them.

Hello,
I am new to SH5 having just bought and installed the game. What are the suggestions for installing the mods? Also in what order should they be done?

Welcome to Subsim.

Are using that as a signature?
If yes go to UserCP-->Edit signature and delete it.

BTW , it is a nice piece of art.

Hope I helped.

WatGoingched Das Boot last night, absolutely wonderful movie, even encouraged me to pump the realism up to 100%! I also got GWX, my god the game is so alive now. Going out on patrol tonight in a VIIC

Sorry about the weird spelling, smartphone likes to act stupid. Does La Rochelle have the accurate wolf pens and canal or did ubi cheat? Feels like something they would skip over. If not then Brest as usual...

Well,pretty much every harbor that was not corrected by GWX is unrealistic.

I recently found my copy of SH3 I put in storage when I last moved. I dusted it off and going to try my hand at GWX.

Is there a JScone's SH3 Commander link anywhere? I can't seem to find one at all, they're all dead.

Thank you both, got it up and running. That gamefront one came up dead as well FYI. Not sure if thats just me or if its actually dead.

One more question (Yeah I know, I'm full of them!):

I am attempting to get the Lorient boats to start in a pen, which lead me to these settings in the Flotilla cfg:

DeparturePointLong1_1=-399068.000000
DeparturePointLat1_1=5729721.000000
Heading1_1=135.000000
NbUboats1=2
Uboat1_0=1
Uboat1_1=2

First off, I'm assuming the units are in meters? Secondly, how can I check in game what my lat and long are? If not, I'm assuming it just becomes a "guess and check" until you stop spawning on the beach to the sound of screeching metal?

Thirdly, what do the last 3 settings represent? Does it have to do with harbor traffic concerning uboats, or start times?

The GameFront link is fine, it must be problematic at your end.

To check Lat and Long you need to use the mission editor...I was going to point you to the files you need to alter and include the correct coordinates for Lorient but they are stored in my GameFront account and I am at work atm...sorry.

Noooo problem. If you could tell them to me whenever possible that would be awesome!

In the Flotilla CFG go to Find and type in Lorient then in each instance you find you need to change the Lat and Long to:

DeparturePointLong1_1=-399517.000000
DeparturePointLat1_1=5729517.000000

Do the same with each instance in the Campaign_LND

What exactly am I looking for in the LND? I don't see sub spawns and I thought LND was for land units only.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found everything. Thanks for pointing out the LND, I would have never known!

Don't worry, your not the first to believe the Flotilla CFG was the only file that needed altering.

Hope it works out for you.
