I would recommend any Nvidia 9 series card. If you can afford an Nvidia GTX series card is best.

TO be honest my graphic Card isn't up to standards either.:O::D

Will it run SH 5 even not up to standards?

Absolutely you just need to lower the graphical settings.

Note: 1.Keep in mind that you may face certain graphical problems while playing.

2. Mods that make the vanilla game's graphics better may also put some more strain on your graphic card.

for more information about the games minimum requirements check the game's included readme file. And be sure to be patched to V1.2

Another note: If you get an nVidia card and update the drivers to, say, v285, the installer will tell you that your drivers are outdated because it requires a minimum of v193 or something.

The problem being that the installer only checks the last two digits, which is quite hilarious, actually. Apparently whichever monkey coded that installer never thought that nVidia would go into the 200s with driver version :har:

Just ignore that warning.

The guy who coded the installer was apparently in the bottom of his class at programming school.:har:

The people who debugged the game were in the bottom of programming school.:har:

I'm running a Zotac 8800GT 1GB GFX card and SH5 runs fine even with higher settings. So most older GFX cards will work.

I suspected as much, having upgraded from an nVidia 260 to 570 (quite a jump) and didn't see much difference. Some, to be sure, but the thing is that SH5 is rather "unusual" in placing a lot of load on the CPU but not a whole lot on the GPU (relatively speaking, and I've also learned that nVidia have, in later generations, unloaded a lot of the work that was previously done by the GPU on the CPU as CPUs are getting bored doing nothing). So I found that my bottleneck is really the CPU. Currently waiting for my new rig with a much better CPU to confirm, and then my new 570 will really show me what it can do :)

Misha, I'm only running a 2.81GB i5 Quadcore CPU with 2 matched cards with 2GBs each of DDR3 memory by Crucial. Along with the 8800GT everything looks and plays great. Most of my sims are running on the high settings of each simulation, and some are even maxed out. I would also think the driver version has an even bigger influence than the graphics card itself.

Ahoy Bubblehead,
I've got a ASUS laptop and since it's not in front of me I can't list the exact specs, what I can tell you is my card was supposedly not supported but I tried it anyway. I had bought the computer for the same reasons.
Well, it worked fine. I can't remember if I needed any adjustments but this computer is running the game pretty good. Power wise you should have no problems, but you may need to change drivers, or settings for the card or using the old compatibility mode or something else simple like that may do the trick.
Point is, if they say not supported, try it anyway, it's probably going to work if it gets beyond the startup screen.
Good Luck my friend and Good Hunting.

Hey!!
I've got a intel i5 M520 CPU
4 GB RAM
and a Nvidia Geforce GT 330M and the game runs like a charm in full resolution!!
So I suggest something as close as possible to these specs :yeah:

I'm trying to run SH4 on a MacPro Laptop (Bootstrap), i7, M620, 8 GB ram. I also have the integrated Nvidia Geforce GT 330M. Game runs for about 30 min and occasionally crashes. I suspect overheating but don't know for sure. What settings (NVidia Control Panel) are you using?

Jl, do a defrag and clean your computer case if you haven't lately. If you have then I suggest getting an H-60 water cooling setup. If you have a CompUSA near by get one from there. We have one her in New Casltle, DE and it's where I got mine from. Works great and will definately keep your processor cool. That and the Cool Master HaAF922 case I have do wonders for cooling.

Thx GT182. I got the game to run on Mac OS using a Wineskin wrapper last night (no Bootstrap) and it ran fine. No acceleration of the cooling fan or excessive heat! What a surprise! I'm a novice wrt to hardware so can't explain. However, I could not run with a popular mod, 3000 yd bearing tool, as game crashed when zooming in on Nav map. Author of mod said it was memory intensive. Appreciate ur thoughts on this.
