I'm confused-the Paradox Interactive website mentions Vista as a minimum requirement, however Gamersgate and the official Facebook page include XP. I'm still a happy user of Win XP Pro SP3 so I'm wondering whether the game will work on it (my hardware is well up to it).

Well, I've actually found it doesn't, in my case anyway, and a number of XP users are reporting freezes (making it impossible to play for more than about 10 minutes). The game doesn't crash, but all the units stop responding. The developers are making this their highest priority for patching, which is good.

I've been able to play it OK on my Vista laptop, but it's not a very powerful machine so FPS is low. It's a nice sim IMHO, the interface definitely grows on you. The biggest problem however is inability to save in game, I've tended not to play it simply because I rarely have the time meeded to finish one scenario.

Win XP here, and the freezes.

Well the new patch issued 20/4 does nothing for my freezes. If anything they're worse. I'm beginning to wonder how much testing they did on 32 bit XP. The developers seem sincere and committed so hopefully they will crack this. It may be they underestimated the extent to which people who enjoy naval strategy games keep older PCs going because they don't need more horsepower. After all if you are in to Harpoon, you don't need state of the art kit.

I'm running XP SP3, works fine for me. Best thing to do is report it in the bug reports section on the paradox forum.

I can run it in my Win7 laptop, but of course, it's slow (not the fastest laptop.)

For me there is no way to run that under xp...after patch 1.0.8.1 now...the game freezes and freezes and freezes. How about Naval War: Freeze Circle and sell 1.0.8.1 as a new game?

Serious, the game freezes so much like no game before. Sometimes after a few minutes sometimes i can "play" like 10 or 15 min. I dont think btw its because of xp, i know a lot of guys having the same problems wither other systems, its the game not xp.

I also use XP. Do any of these techniques help?

Thanks for the vid, i watched it to 10.00 now and the command line stuff is interessting im gonna try that. I also tryed stuff with task manager and cpu control and i turned off some of the graphic settings.

But enough is enough and before i do things like turning the sound off i better throw it away.

I run this game on an Acer Aspire laptop with win7 home edition, 4g of ram, an AMD Athlon II X P340 and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics, and can run it with the graphics maxed out with no slowdowns, crashes or CTD's. I wish I could help with the people who can't run it, but its a mystery to me. I have had no problems running any game I have bought in the last year and a half since I bought this rig, except Commander The Great War, which I can't get to run at all. And its the first game that I have had trouble with. Anyway, I recently bought the DLC for NWAC just in the hope that the dev's might fix the game. Don't get me wrong, this game is not what was expected by any means! I still think NWP Fleet Command is far superior, but so far I've tried to give this a chance. I would suggest if you can run the Demo, you should be good to go as far as the full game goes. If not you shouldn't buy it. Who know's why a game will run well on one system and not another, but I agree the people who produced this game should have fixed it for everyone by now. Of course they could fix it for you guys, and end up breaking it for me!:hmmm:
