Hey everyone! I'm a recent "new" member of the forum and I've downloaded several mods for Silent Hunter 5 from this site. I've played the Silent Hunter series since the first game came out so I am very familiar with it. However, I've never really gotten into "modding" the game much before and was wondering if I could ask a few questions for some advice? I'd appreciate any information provided... :DL
I am running a Dell XPS 720 tower with an Intel quad-core CPU, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 OS, dual NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX video cards with SLI, 4GB RAM
I've downloaded the following mods:
Dynamic Environment v2.1
Equipment upgrades Fix v1.4
FX Update
Water Disturbances
Torpedo Speed Fix
Open Horizons II full 1.8
MightyFine Crew 1.2.1
NewUIs TDC 6.9.0
Enhance Funnel Smoke
I've downloaded a few others, but these are the ones I've loaded. I was hoping I could get some information on the following questions:
I've noticed that some of the mods will generate "has already been added / altered" error messages. If I go ahead and install the mod, it "greys out" the mod named in the error message. Is that OK? From other posts I've read, it seems as if the mods have to be installed in a specific order, yes?
The Observation Periscope won't rise up out of the water enough for me to use it to track targets, is there a mod available that will fix this? I can only use the Attack Periscope while submerged at periscope depth.
With the Equipment Upgrades mod, I received several other types of torpedos. I understand the Torpedo Speed Fix mod was done to correct the TDC taking into account the different speed of the electric torpedos. Using that mod, does this also take into account the speeds of the other types of torpedos from the Equipment Upgrade?
After starting up the game and running it for a while, the crew responses to my commands just seem to stop and I stop hearing back from the crew. Orders to call out the keel depth go unanswered... Is there a mod that would fix that?
I downloaded the Speech Recognition mod, but am having some trouble getting it to work. I've got a USB Microphone. The fix I read in one of the other posts doesn't seem to "fit" with my machine. In other words, I'm not "seeing" the screens shown in the posts. If someone could recommend a fix for this that would be great!
Sorry this is such a long post, but again, I'd appreciate any information I can get!
Thank you all!
