Who has been on this ship. I have when i was a little kid, and i still remember most of it.
I first remember getting off the USS Massachusetts and wondering what that weird looking small ship was. i asked my dad and he said it was a submarine, i then asked why it was so small and he said thats because submarines go underwater. from there on out i was in love with submarines

Forward torpedo tubes of the Lionfish
She's in great shape as are the Massachusetts, The Joseph Kennedy Jr., the Elco (PT-617) and Higgins (PT-796) PT boats. You should go!

Look the difference between the attack and observation periscope!
The O periscope looks like a pencil haha:DL, in SH4 they both are the same.
i remeber in SH3 there are differences between obs and att periscopes...

Then aft scope, pencil one, is the attack scope...it's thin so the enemy will have a harder time seeing it.
The deck gun is actually the big one, 5" Gun.

i said the stern one was the pencil, the aft one is more like a presicion pen

The stern and aft are the same part of the boat. The thin one there is the 'rear' scope, which is the attack scope. (or I believe is called the #2 scope)
I took that pic from the front edge of the conning tower looking towards the rear of the boat on the starboard side, as you can see the SD aerial is farthest back towards the stern/aft of the submarine with the SJ 'dish' just below it in the pic.
SH4 is correct, if you have both scope set to zero degree's with the op scope raised, then you look through the attack scope as you put it up you will see the op scope is in the way because op scope is forward of the attack scope.

Yes, the observation scope is in front of the attack scope.

The stern and aft are the same part of the boat
sorry, english isn't my native language :D
Rear = Stern Forward = Forward? (naval terminology)
in SH4 they both are the same.

I didnt mean that both scopes "were in the same place". i was talking about the external shape....
in SH4 they are both "thin" (1.4 stock)
in sh3 the O scope is "fatter" than the attack one, like real ones.
