I'm a new member here. I bought Silent Hunter 4 with Uboat addon few days ago. I chose the SH4 version because its good reputation.

Then I realize that it is changeable through various MODs. Now I'm very satisfied with this game.

It took a while to get familiarize with the JSGME and many mod options, but actually it was quite straight forward.

What is the current hot topic in this SH4 game world now?

I see my join date is 2006 and I never got around to posting :) I've had SH5 for a while, never really enjoyed it, then I downloaded the DarkWraith's mod the other day and I have been enjoying it immensely. Thanks for having such a great resource!

Though I must admit... I'm not enjoying this new download limit at all...
Subsim has more than 70,000 members. The great majority sign up and start downloading things. Hosting that costs a large amount of money, and Subsim doesn't make you donate to download, but they do ask that you become an active part of the community by posting more. Downloads are tied to posting.

First of all I'd like to say bear with me, I've never been a member of any

forum so if you see me posting in the wrong area or asking an answered

question be easy... I do take quite a bit of time reading and searching for

things i have issue with but... its probably inevitable I'll do it so I post the

latter in advance.


I'm currently running a stock sh4 and am looking forward to wrecking it in

an attempt to mod. I was largely introduced to sh4 through youtube vids,

this is the only pc game I have (ps3junkie). Lastly, for now anyway, this

is probably the cleanest post you'll ever see from me, so I appologize for

that in advance too. (caps, punctuation, accronyms, spelling ect. and

it won't be easy to "double enter" every line...

Ive played every Silent Hunter game since its creation. Ive gotta say I'm disappointed with the way they cut back so much on the gameplay mechanics of Silent Hunter 5.

I'm getting some skills in sinking big ships with manual tdc and realism around 50... ( i've tried 100 realism but i'm not so skilled! ).

But now that i've discovered this forum... God bless subsim.com! :up:

My name is IcyWaters and I am a new SH5 player. I have played SH3 when it was released... 5-6 years ago? I remember completing one campaign and really liked the thrill of hunting and evading. However, I have forgotten 99% of what I learned in SH3 and I was never really a sub fan to start with. I just like all the hunting and the plotting and the final successful conclusion of a kill.

I have just purchased SH5 due to a sale. I could not say no to £5 for a simulation! :D

I consider myself "back to square one" with this so I hope you pros will be a tolerant and patient with me.

Hey there. Dipped in and out of the scene for several years now. Still absolutely useless at the games, but I really enjoy dynamic campaigns where I help shape the outcome. The only way to get better is to play right? I keep telling myself that anyway LOL!

hey i am new here as well, i've toyed around with sh3 in the past and now that sh5 is looking bettter and better thanks to this community i decided to give that a go now as well :)

i tend to be a casual u boat captain but sometimes i like to get creative and fire my torps manually... though firing is all i do, i'm lucky if i hit something (other than myself) but i saw some great tutorial mods here for in-game use so i will give those a go and maybe get better at it that way :)
