View Full Version : Would SH5 load faster on an SSD?

I have a pretty high-end PC setup, but despite the overall in-game speed and smoothness of gameplay, SH5 takes very, very long to load. Its loading time is especially bad when starting a new career.

So, I was wondering if the loading times could be cut if SH5 was installed on an SSD? I'm considering purchasing an SSD anyway, but this would convince me to do so if you think SH5 would benefit from it.

Yes everything loads way faster with a SSD. I don't have one for my SH5 but my son has a SSD and all his games load way faster. If you get one let us know how good it is for SH5.

If you want to load fast then disable vsync in game options . If using antilag then set FPS to 0 .

Sure will. I went from two Raptors in RAID 0 to two SSD's in RAID 0. Very noticeable difference in load times on everything :yep:

Make sure you use/have a good controller, there has been issues with performance and SSD's ( Check SSD manf/type and compatability with your hardware, for example if your mobo has a JMicron controller ). Do yourself a favor and scour the forums before you purchase a SSD as there has been recalls and needed updates a plenty as its still developing ).

If you connect your SSD via a standard SATA, you are shortchanging yourself as your transfer rate wont be optimum. That is, if you get a SSD SATA 3, but your mobo only supports SATA I or II, you SSD SATA 3 will only perform at the SATA I or II level...still faster in most cases than standard HDD's, but a pretty hard performance loss by connecting via a older SATA type.

I ended up picking up an SSD and there's definitely a noticeable decrease in loading times. SSDs are pretty sweet, as there's an overall boost on the way my computer runs now. However, the prices are still pretty insane.

It's by Mushkin, 120gb, I don't recall its other specifications.
