Would it not be more accurate to say that we may well be training some Al Qaeda members? :hmmm:
The British army is to help set up a military academy in Afghanistan to train members of its armed forces.
The project, dubbed "Sandhurst in the sand", could see up to 200 UK troops mentoring future Afghan officers.

I'm sure having that Sandhurst thing in place will - all by wonder and miracle - work around infiltration of the security apparatus, corruption of the leadership, lacking motivation and lacking disciplinary spirit in Afghan recruits that western trainers complain about since almost ten years now.
Has any of these bright minds understood that the Taliban are likely to form the govenrment in Afghanistan sooner or later...?

I certainly wouldn't want to be one of those '200' left behind :o
There are not enough facepalms in the world.... :nope:

Training people who don't like us in the ways that we fight.
And somehow this is not going to bite them in the butt in the future?
What could possibly go wrong?:damn:
I wonder if they will go through with this, especially after those 2 soldiers from the UK were killed recently. I sure as hell hope not!

^That was 09... it hasn't improved. :-?
Ya know at least the AVRN knew that if they lost they would either end up dead, or in a country so different from what they knew that it was worth fighting. For the ANA its just a job, whoever wins the situation stays the same; the Afghan Government today is just Taliban Lite.
