Hi, is it possible to engage surface targets such as ships with seadart, from a type 42 platform?

The Sea Dart is configured to allow for ASuW capabilities with the PlayersDB. Other databases may or may not have the same configuration settings for the weapon.

Thanks for the reply, is there a delay between turning your radar on and being able to launch Sea Dart?

Nope. Once you activate your radar, you should be able to fire the Sea Dart.

However, there are some pre-conditions:
1) Your radar must have sufficient energy to reach the target
2) The target must reflect sufficient energy back to the guidance radar

ECM can really degrade radar systems. Sometimes, the effective range of the radar decreases as much as 75% thus making it virtually useless.

If there is a specific instance whereby you are experiencing a problem, please specify the game version, database, and scenario you are using.

Freek Schepers, the author of most of those scenarios, will be very happy to hear that you are enjoying his work. If you ever want an MP match, just let me know. We've played most of those scenarios head-to-head and they play totally differently than against the AI.

Hi, thanks I will take you up on then offer after I do a few scenarios to get back in the way of harpoon(currently exoceting my own ships!). One final question if you don't mind, what is the difference between harpoon ultimate edition and harpoon ultimate commanders edition? Which version overall, is preferred?

There are followers of both versions. The two games are like the sports squash and racquetball. They share many similarities, but deliver naval warfare in a different manner.
