View Full Version : questions about mods install order...
i have s4 with uboat missions...all patched up, and i intend to install RFB and RSRDC, i noticed the operation monsun(OM) mod and it looked to be a supermod for the german side of the war for sh4. can i also install this with having RFB and RSRDC installed? and what is the correct install order and are there any special patches i have to install also?
any guidance would be appreciated

If memory serves, they're not compatible since RSRDC deals with the Pacific side of the theater whereas OM tackles the Atlantic side (no clue whatsoever about RFB and OM, since I've never used the former).
What you can do to get the best of the two worlds is get MultiSH4, a utility that allows you to run multiple versions of the game, and install the mods separately, i.e. RFB+RSRDC in one game version, OM in the other. More information about MultiSH4, as well as a download link, is available here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=108215&highlight=multish4).
it seems to me that if RSRDC handled the pacific war, and OM handled the atlantic war, they should be able to coexist because they are in totally different parts of the game world

Yes, you're right. Went to check the OM thread (it's over here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=134922), by the way) and you can, indeed, use both - as long as RSRDC is loaded first.
However, since you intend to install RFB plus RSRDC, OM no longer fits in the equation because OM is not compatible with RFB, according that thread.

OM + RSRDC works. note RSRDC is a Pacific Theater mod.
Stock game + RSRDC works
GFO + RSRDC v4.1 works
TMO + RSRDC works.
RFB + RSRDC works.
FOTRS is not compatible with RSRDC
OM is not compatble with RFB

I agree with Beast, I ran RSRD with OM when I played it, just run RSRD first, seems OM overwrites a few issues with RSRD, probably some ships and traffic, then if you feel like it you can skirt down and attack some US pacific bases.
You would do well to post in the SH4 ATO/Uboat add-on forums where OM the Uboat part of SH4 is discussed.

OM gives you a choice of a Pacific Environment or Mediteranean Environment. If the combo is OM/RSRDC then eable the Pacific Environment. I have not tried that option, as I am running around Europe enjoying life on the Riviera.

I just enabled the Enemies of Germany mod that tells you the dates of that Germany was at war with the allied countries. I had forgotten about that mod, and I sank a ship without checking its nationality. I got no credit, probaly because it was a neutral on the date I sank it.
I am trying to figure out the Lut dials. I did not play SH3, so I am not sure how to work them. There is Lut dials mod, but no explanation on how to use it. I am wondering if you need a special torpedo that is not available until sometime after 1839.
Other than that, once you figure out manual targeting on a UBoat, OM is not overly difficult. But it is a well put togehter mod, and with OMEGU is a great one to play.
