Hey Guys!
I asked a friend, a GR veteran like me, if he would like to play OGR again, since the new titles are anything but "Ghost Recon". We miss the good old times of developing tactics, sneaking in position and striking the bad guys.
I could imagine there are others like us, so, who would be interested in a few nice GR games? Maybe this or next weekend, so we dont get problems because of the time zones.
So, any real Ghosts still out there? ;)
Note: We would play with GR, DS and IT, fully patched.
Might consider joining. Not promising anything yet, though.
Got a good taste of the original campaign with a friend yesterday. Nostalgia!

If I can find the DVD I bought ages ago, I'd be up. Although I never actually played it before. :haha:

I'm in a similar position to Spike, got it but hardly ever played it. Pretty much the same as Rainbow Six.
I tell you, don't start a family - really cramps game time!
If my wife's reading this - nothing personal, and happy birthday. :D
Happy Birthday Frau-Berbunch! :O:

I have plenty of experience with the original Rainbow Six, and Rainbow Six 3. I love both of those games.
I started up the tutorial, realized I had played it before, and then realized it plays a bit like Rainbow Six. So I'm good to go-ish. I still suck at it, but I atleast have some experience now.
Happy Birthday Berbunch's wife!
Also, why can't they bloody make games like this anymore!? A Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon with the old gameplay(especially the planning before hand in RB6) with fancy new graphics would be amazing.

Happy Birthday Berbunch's wife!
Steady with your birthday greetings - she's not the biggest fan of SUBSIM - it's mostly stolen her husband, and if it's not this site it's the people from here that have my attention as the evenings wear on and I'm clock watching...

I can understand from a Major Publisher, but what's the excuse from companies that make Simulators, or Indie Developers.

Budget, probably. Needs rather complex AI, which takes an awfull amount of time and effort... think that's the main issue.

If they could pull it off on 400 MHZ processors, and the budgets that were popular back then, I don't see how an Indie Developer or Simulation company(who usually have high budgets anyways, and high costing games) couldn't produce one.

I still have all those discs somewhere in the basement. :hmmm:
I'd love to join -- haven't played that game in quite awhile. :DL The only problem I would have is bridging a connection over to the Linux box. :hmmm:

I'm not talking about end-user resources. Programming AI is difficult.
But yeah, there's some companies that could do it, but just don't for some reason.

Found mine buried on a hard drive last night, must've played it a bit as there are a load of mods from ghostrecon.net on it. So anyway, I loaded it up and activated the WWII total mod 'War of Infamy', the weapons and uniforms are reasonably WWII-ish but the surroundings were modern buildings and vehicles. :nope:
Lots of other mods to try from that site. I can see a whole load being downloaded this afternoon.
Just heard about this concerning GR, don't know what to think about it, haven't seen what it looks like yet.

Ok Folks, next Friday (30.03.) at 1900GMT.
Server IP will be posted shortly before, same for Team Speak, which is a must btw.
GR without coms is...pointless :dead:
Hope you´ll join us, we bite! :stare:
Advise: Please test your GR if its working flawlessly, so we can avoid hickups. If there are problems, we will try to help of course!

Why not use Arc's server?

Arc's TS2 and TS3 servers both run 24/7. But okay.

To me, it is kinda logic that we meet on our TS since we "invited" everyone to play. And I didnt know that Arc has multiple TS servers running, he just wrote he could provide a TS if needed. We have one, so its not needed.
But in the end, I dont care about which TS we use, thats not important.

Either works, simply volunteered it since it's there.
If this works out, might I suggest some other titles? SWAT4 and R6 3 come to mind. Tried to get some tactical gaming going a while ago (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=174213&highlight=tactical+basterds), but it never really took off, though we did play a bit of R6 and SWAT with fairly low number of players (ironically more people showed for Vegas xD).

Funny, my buddy and me spoke about S4 and RvS, we both love those games, but again, lack of players.
Lets hope it works out this time!

I'm up(down, left, right, and center) for R6 3, and Rainbow Six Vegas(1 or 2). Although I call dibs on Sniper role(in the event that we need one)
I really need to re-read Rainbow Six, but I'm still working through Hunt for the Red October.
