It's a shame to see Kodak in the state it's in. It doesn't surprise me, though, when they refused to make really good products. Fuji turned itself around, and is now producing high end cameras. The last decent camera produced by Kodak is the Z990 introduced last year. For a budget superzoom it is really good. It still falls short, however, of the more pricey options out there. Their printers are absolutely horrid. I had a Kodak ESP3250. It was a nightmare. I will never use a Kodak printer again. Their low priced ink ruse is just that, a ruse. With the way the printer was set up (even using quickest print options) you would burn through the ink thus requiring you to buy more frequently.

I don't understand all the stuff left in that building. You'd think they would have gutted it and sold the equipment for salvage value. Who just leaves their personal items behind when they leave? (Well that I kind of understand. When I was laid off a number of years ago, I left some professional books behind because I was just trying to get my things out of my desk and get out of there. Pissed me off when I realized it, too.)

It looks like everyone just went home one day and never came back. Odd.

Kodak were always leaving of the film/chemical products and even being ground breaking in several things, they did not know how to continue with them. Several people said that, after the article 11 and etc, they did the digital sensor for leica cameras, but that is not enough.
And even the chemicals are made in a different company under the kodak brand.
They should return to be only a film/photo chemical company and develop new films/ or return some old ones and go from that to the future.

The Kodak facilities in Hollywood, California were very large and were a bit of a landmark. But, the writng was on the wall a long time ago. I would pass by the buildings, fairly regularly, and would note some building or other was up for lease or was already taken over by some other business. There are a lot of such buildings in Hollywood; the mammoth Technicolor building covered an entire city block with the adjacent city block being used entirely for employee parking. Technicolor operations ran 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Now, the building is used mainly by a storage company and heath spa/gym. Technology has gutted a lot of the once mighty and vital filmaking/entertainment industries...
