Which one's processors are currently better for gaming computer? I have earlier used AMD's Athlon and Phenom II processors but my info is "a bit" outdated as I did latest upgrade 3 years ago.

Check the i5-2500-kind of CPUs, they offer excellent bang for the buck ratio, means they are cheaper than the latest stuff, but can compete with the very fastest out there. It's incredible. Got myself such a CPU last year - perfect buy. Perfect. And I run it even without overclocking!

To answer your question, currently Intel is the way to go, no doubt.

I just upgraded from a pentium something or other dual core 2.4 ghz to a core i5 quad core 3.0 ghz and its lightning fast. I just took the dive and bought a base model Dell XPS 8300 since my old machine practically burned itself out (and with motherboard drivers dating back to 2003, who could blame it!)

As Sky said, i5-2500k is the CPU to get at the moment. Lovely little thing. :yep:

AH yes. Intel is a better buy if you have the money. But not by alot. AMD is still up there. Depends on what you have to spend and what you want to do. Intel's K processors are built for overclocking, so more or less "future proof", and are wonderful.

While AMD's Six core or quad core processors still get the job done well at a lesser cost in most cases.
