CTD w/ship recognition manual

Just finished a quick mission, Battle off Samar. Used ship recognition manual to identify class of Japanese CA. Got the manual to open, clicked l. arrow to go back, and sim had an immediate black screen, then CTD. The error report says the problem resides in "E:\Documents & Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\a89b_appcompat.txt." I sent the error report but am unsure of next step to take.:yawn:

I have others in the mod installer that can not be installed due to apparent installation of some of their features by what you see here.

Is that the exact order in which you have the mods installed? I think you should've installed FOTRS 1.3 as the first mod. What version of SH4 are you running?

That was the order in which they were installed at the time I wrote the post. Since then, I have rearranged things so that FOTR is now the first mod. I'll give things a whirl based on the reordering.

I am running version 1.4 of SH4.

Edit: Just tried the same quick mission as described above. Called up ship recog manual, selected Japanese ships, got first vessel, hit "back" arrow, and got same black screen CTD.

I'd get rid of the "Eye Patch for 1.5" too, since you're using version 1.4.
If that doesn't fix it, try uninstalling one mod at a time until you find the culprit. Also, make sure any mods you install are compatible with version 1.4 before you install them.
