US, Iranians ‘clash’ at sea
KUWAIT CITY, March 5: US troops opened fire on a boat carrying six Iranians near Kuwait’s territorial waters, a source told Al-Shahed daily, adding four Iranians were killed, one was wounded and another was reported missing.
According to the source, the Iranian boat approached a prohibited area that was under the control of US Navy and refused to obey orders. Kuwait’s Coast Guards have been put on alert following the incident, which occurred northeast of the territorial waters of the country.
The source also added that US-Kuwait joint forces began searching for the missing Iranian, while the injured was referred to the US military hospital for treatment. The remains of the four Iranians were recovered by US troops and will be repatriated to Iran.
The US Army has launched an investigation into the incident and is keeping the damaged boat to find out why the Iranians wanted to enter the prohibited area.

I'm assuming the "Prohibited Area" was near ABOT/KAOT and the Iranian "Finger".

Why hasn't the 'Coalition' just demolished the 'Finger' long ago? I really don't see any downside to obliterating the nuisance; it would really be an act of self-defense by most measures...

The situation might be even worse:
VIENNA (AP) — Satellite images of an Iranian military facility appear to show trucks and earth-moving vehicles at the site, indicating an attempted cleanup of radioactive traces possibly left by tests of a nuclear-weapon trigger, diplomats told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
...
Two of the diplomats said the crews at the Parchin military site may be trying to erase evidence of tests of a small experimental neutron device used to set off a nuclear explosion. A third diplomat could not confirm that but said any attempt to trigger a so-called neutron initiator could only be in the context of trying to develop nuclear arms.
The diplomats said they suspect attempts at sanitization because some of the vehicles at the scene appeared to be haulage trucks and other equipment suited to carting off potentially contaminated soil from the site.http://news.yahoo.com/ap-exclusive-iran-may-cleaning-nuke-202531198.html

The fact that they appear to be cleaning up Parchin site implies that they are going to "play along" and allow someone to come and look at sites to falsely imply that they have no nuclear weapons program.Somewhat like what Saddam did in the 90s(of course he really did not have much of anything).Seems like Iran might try to play a similar game only they will have something they just wont allow inspectors to any truly active site.
I often wonder if Iran might have interest in chemical and biological weapons those type programs are much easier to hide and can be equally deadly.
The incident with the Iranian boat we'll have to see I doubt it will make things come to a head alone.

US denies sea clash - ‘Iranians rescued’
KUWAIT CITY, March 6: The US Navy has denied reports that its forces fired on a boat with six Iranians onboard near Kuwaiti territorial waters on March 5, killing four, wounding one and leaving one mariner unaccounted.
The article, dated March 6 in the Arab Times, that reported the incident from an unnamed source in Al-Shahed newspaper, is unequivocally false and unfounded, according to Lt Rebecca Rebarich, Media Officer for COMUSNAVCENT, US Fifth Fleet based in Bahrain.
“The article inaccurately depicts the search and rescue mission conducted by the US Navy from March 3-4, involving the US Navy Coastal patrol boat USS Firebolt (PC10) and US Coast Guard Cutter Maui (WPB 1304) which rescued an Iranian mariner from the capsized Iranian cargo dhow Abu Al Fazel in the north Arabian Gulf who was treated for shock and hypothermia. Through Firebolt’s civilian translator, the surviving mariner relayed that at approximately 11 pm on March 2, the dhow sank due to bad weather conditions with six mariners aboard. He also confirmed that four died and one was missing. Firebolt recovered the remains of three deceased Iranian mariners in and around the lifeboat and searched for the two missing crew members with other US Navy and Coast Guard forces,” Rebarich added.
“We have confirmed with the Kuwaiti Coast Guard that there is no report of any maritime engagements or mariners in distress resembling the Arab Times article, and their operations remain normal and routine. The US Navy conducts operations in international water and space through the US Central Command area of responsibility,” Rebarich clarified.

I didn't make the graphic, but I did change what they called ABOT/KAAOT...

I guess "Iranian SIGINT and IRGCN base" wouldn't fit on the graphic.
But it is used to eavesdrop and observe Coalition ships in the NAG. I can't say more.
Why am I not seeing this news item in the mainstream press?
Good point and also why isn't Iran screaming foul and parading the bodies of those martyred sailors as an example of yet more US Great Satanism?
And "spy base"? That sounds like hyperbole. It's hard to tell from the picture but it looks like a channel buoy. What's it a base for, the Munchkin Republican Guard?

Why not just have a land based SIGINT base? Iran could easily have one along the coast that is well with in snooping range.
I think it would take a lot more to really make Iran react military we did not go to war back 88 when that US Navy ship mistook that Iranian airliner as a threat and shot it down. That cost us 61.8 million.

World War II was quite enough thanks very much.
I wonder if in 60 years our grand-kids will be sitting playing WW3 combat simulators? trying to immerse themselves in the reality of it all?
Or will they be trying to figure out how to build shelter and find something edible in the nuclear wasteland that we leave them.
Humans are so damned stupid.

Well thats just silly, keep fish in your fish pond, what you are doing is like keeping a mole in your worm farm.
Unless of course you are sick of eating worms now and want some mole instead, but then you might want two moles so you can farm them for all of your end of the world days feasts.

You wont see any Iranian paratroops ever in the US they dont not have the capability to realistically reach the US even if they did it would have to pass through several air spaces that dislike the presence of Iranian military aircraft greatly.

I am surprised that they do not make a "Green Dawn" for the Yubbas out there where Iran and Hezbollah invades the US and shoots wealthy businessmen (killing a left-commie teacher
would be a positive) and tramples copies of the bible and "Dukes of Hazard".Yubba as played by Bruce Willis will become leader of the Hickory Smoked Bacons and will ambush Iranian Republican Guard units they will always take 3 alive and force them to eat bacon until they burst.
Iran is most certainly a threat but not on that level to the US.

A boat sank. A sailor was rescued. Several bodies recovered. No shots fired as far as the US is concerned. Iran continues railing on about the Great Satan... :yep:
Wouldn't they be surprised to find out that the U.S. actually works for a series of Lesser Satans, all grouped under the Hell's Half Acre marketing firm. (The actual Great Satan chairs the parent company and, along with a healthy salary, also receives pension from a UK law enforcement agency (i.e. jimbuna :03:)). :hmmm::D

"Good, we don't want an international incident! Now, were we able to down that seagull for my dinner?"
"No sir, we fired every available weapon except missiles, and we missed with every one sir."
"Darn, oh well, I will be in my stateroom. Carry on!"
