A man who informed police when he found child abuse images on his computer has not been allowed to be alone with his daughter for four months.

Nigel Robinson from Hull said he called police after trying to download music but instead finding pornographic images on his laptop last November.

He reported it to the cops!

If he was actually intending to download it, he surely wouldn't have reported it

He said he was "totally innocent".

And yet he was downloading music that you can bet wasn't from Amazon or iTunes... :hmmm:

:nope:

He should've known better, should've just hit the delete button.

There's a big difference between downloading music and downloading child porn.

And he did inform the police about it, so I really doubt he did it intentionally. :hmmm:

A few years ago my wife went through a phase of getting stuff of limewire because her sister-in-law did it. She downloaded a zip file said to contain Jason Donovan songs - it didn't, it had a virus. Could've just have easily have been child porn. Either way I wasn't a happy chap!

I know he went to the police, my point is he's not 'totally' innocent - just innocent (until proven guilty, m'lud) of intentionally downloading child porn.

Yes. The child pornography laws are pretty much the same in Western countries: the possession is illegal; storing pics on your pc = possession.
He should have saved the link if he directly downloaded it or the file name + hashtag if he got it over p2p and could have given this to the cops.

Hard to say it seems foul but at the same time better safe than sorry. Obviously the cops are going through his records and files seeing where he has been over a certain time period if it was a mistake they will know if it was something else they will find out.
