Hello! My name is Ewall007 and I'm a new sign-on to this site.
I've been playing SH4 for about 2 years, and just found this wonderful site. Mostly play with myself and have never played online.

At the moment I have upgraded my install to v1.4 and have downloaded a number of mod's from your site. That has really changed the game. I'm still trying to get the guts to use manual targeting in the game.

I have one question for anyone out there that could help me.

Question:
When I installed SH4 I also bought the v1.5 Wolfpack add-on. I installed the both with no problems. I stop playing the game for about a year, and when I started back I get this "OLEACC.dll" error during startup. Some type of command line program that can't find the dll, but the dll is there under Windows in the system folder.

I unstalled the game and reinstalled it. I didn't get the error untill I installed the v1.5 upgrade. At the moment I have uninstalled the SH4 then reinstalled it an upgraded to v1.4 with no problems about "OLEACC.dll".

Can anyone help me to find out what the problem is or direct me to a form for answers.

Hey guys! I'm new to the site. I've played SH3 and SH4 but never been one for mods as I've enjoyed the stock games. I bought SH5 and a friend told me that to get the best out of it I needed to mod it, so here I am.

So far I love it and it's my favourite of the series.

A bit about myself: I live in British Columbia, Canada but am originally from the United Kingdom. I am waiting to go into a Master's in History and specialise in German history from the 1800's right up to the Cold War. Nice to be part of this amazing community!

One question: how do I get promoted? Not sure I like being a "bilge rat" :p

I'm The Dark Wolf and have been playing SH3 GWX 3.0 for about two years now, tried SH4 but prefer the Atlantic.

I saw subsim mentioned during an internet search for "U-boat.net"

I have experienced a problem lately with Disappearing deck gun ammo!

and really need some help with this one.

I downloaded the mods "All weather Guns" and "Extra Ammo" and now I have NO ammo for my deck gun!

It shows on the screen, but when I go to use the gun it says "We have no ammunition"

After install of the mods I got the message "Read me file has been overwritten"

I have not been able to figure out how to get my ammo back! What file determines deck gun ammo?

I am using SH3 GWX3.0

Welcome...as per my responses to your PM's

You state clicking on the shell icon makes no difference.

Uninstall the mods and see if the ammo level returns.

Have you unzipped the mod into your MODS folder?

The file in question is data/Cfg/Basic but I wouldn't advise you alter any settings unless your confident of what your doing.

Without the ammo mod installed in stock game your relevent lines should read:

Greetings Kaluens,

I'm just a sub fan into Alan Rickman. I've been playing SH3 on and off since release mainly with the GW mod. I like to keep it real so try to never use time compression. It takes me a few years to finish a campaign.

Recently purchased SH4 after discovering it had a u-boat expansion. Guess I like type VII and the II's mainly. But all subs are ace in my book.

Avoided sh5 initially and thought it was best forgotten about but reading through the forums recently has made me very excited about it.

I love the dedication that the modding teams have and and really looking forward to checking out the mods available for both sh4 and 5.

I'm an avid reader and have read a few u-boat bios after getting into sh3. I also like checking out that awesome uboat website which gives a detailed history of all the u-boats.

Finally, I love lurking in the subsim message boards and think you guys are all awesome.

While downloading some new stuff for my SHIV, I apparently went over the download limit and have been told to report here to spew verbage to become a captain. :haha: I admit I don't post on a regular basis but I'm not a fresh boot like this system thinks. Lets see. I have posted in the past about how my game crashes a lot starting about 1943 in Gato class boats, but that may have never been resolved. My workaround is to start a new game in 1944 with a different class boat. I have used a lot of Websters mods in the past as they seem to be what I want and don't crash too often. :rock:

So off to wait a day so I can download some more (new)stuff.

Sadly, I got everything installed (game, JSGME, mods) and the damn game won't let me authenticate. I'm not sure why, I'm reading the CD key off the back of the manual. I wonder if the add-on came with it's own CD key that I don't have any more, since they re-did their store a while ago so you would have to re-purchase things you had already purchased.

Which game? We deal with several here, including three different Silent Hunters. Also, you'll probably get better results if you ask in the forum dedicated to that particular game.

Recently, I was watching a video on youtube and notice an awesome interface mod for SHIV so I decide to give the game a second chance :hmmm: (Its been two year or so since I played it for the last time). After some research on google, it point me out to this webpage. That's why I'm here now cuz It's not in my habit to subscribe even less post in forum (sorry I'm that kind of guy). I thought I better let myself have a short introduction so you over here might know who I am!
Well to start off with i am a 29 year old dude from Sweden. I've played SH 2 a long time ago with a friend of mine and almost forgot about those series. Hi there! I've been a long time wannabe sub captain after picking up SH3 on sale some years ago, but never really had the time to devote to learning it. Recently, free time started to overflow, and I was lured back to the sub sim world after seeing some absolutely gorgeous SH5 sinking videos. Cue a week of SH5 tutorials and mod downloading, and here I am!

Funny thing is, even though I've been given absolutely no reason to dislike modded SH5, I've started to get a powerful desire to play SH3! Browsing this site, there are So. Many. Mods. It makes me content-jealous! So I think I'll have to at least give SH3 a go.

So, with all that said, I just wanted to say thank you to those who run this site, and all of the mod makers throughout the years. My journey in sub-simming is just beginning, and I have a feeling that the years of hard work this community has put into this game will make me and any other newbies happy campers! :)

I had started playing silent hunter 3 several years ago when it had just come out and loved the game but ended up losing the disk. Just recently I had decided to start playing it again but had noticed that there was now a silent hunter 5 so I ordered thaty and really like the game although it seems alot more incomplete and buggy than silent hunter 3.

Overall I do enjoy the new game with upgraded graphics, although it took quite a bit to get it to run smoothly on my late 2008 macbook pro "hardly runs it without antilag installed".

I do have some questions about this new game though, how come the hydrophone officer doesn't give me any updates on nearby ships? also, why is it that the watch crew doesn't give me any a contact update and just drops me out of time compression when spotting an enemy? are their any fixes for these?

Also I seem to remember liking the input to fire torpedos better for silent hunter 3, how about you guys?

I'm actually an old member that joined back when I played SH3 and I've returned now after just purchasing SH5. I'm late I know, but I followed the advice in Neal's review and waited a bit before joining the war as I know the best SH experience is one that happens once the game has had time to be patched a few times and modded.


Anyway, looking forward to jumping back into a sub as it has really been too long. Now if you'll excuse me, I think SH5 just finished downloading from Steam.
