SimHQ's Magnum has posted some news about plans for SBP in 2012 that have been revealed to him by eSim'S technical director, Ssnake.

Basically there is an upcoming patch for 2.640, an updated DVD including that patched latest version of SBP for new customers, a formerly unannounced small upgrade probably around 3rd quarter this year that will feature some of the graphical improvements they currently work on (shadows, shaders, light effects), and the next major upgrade in 2013 that will make full use of these mid-2012 features.

I think that in about six months the Steel Beasts world will look substantially different from what it used to look like for a couple of years now.

Tank Trek - and the journey goes on!

:salute:

Yeah finally! I think the only area SB is lagging behind other games is in the eye-candy department.Looking forward to that!:yeah:

In visual special effects, it laggs behind, yes. But the new tank models and highres skins imo are already extremely good. The LOS gets calculated to up to 16 km now, for missiles especially. And it is not just eye candy, but for full effect. Hellfires get aimed at the full range - not just 5 km as before.

Yes the modelling is first class for sure. but looks-wise compared to the latest games SB is like the brainy chick fighting it out with the stunning blondes:D
