Can't figure out how to give crew medals?

As the title says. I have earned a fair few medals and can't work out how to give them to crew members...

If you are not using SH3 Commander, after patrol go to career menu and click on filing cabinets upper left corner. On this page lower left corner click on awards. Click on medals, bring up crew member, drag and drop.
If you are using SH3 Commander, career menu, bottom right available actions, manage your crew.

When you return from patrol, go to the crew page. On lft bottom select medals. Crew members who qualify for award will light up. Select a crew member and dra the medal over him

Bear in mind that you cannot issue medals to your crew members if you dock in any port but your home port. Likewise you can't gain qualifications.

SH3 Commander lets you do what you want.
