just a thought, with the salt water and all, what did the guys do to keep the guns from rusting fast?

Constant maintenance, constant lubrication, and near constant shooting LOL

It helps when the guns are German made, not French :DL

I thought most of the German guns were made by French slave laborers?

We had a 20mm low and on the bow of the boat which took on green water all the time. On top of that in strong winds the barrel cover would rub all the parkerization off on the barrel.
Our solution was to apply gobs of grease to it and the barrel. Then we would wrap an ace bandage soaked in grease around the barrrel too. After two weeks we would do it all over again. It never failed to fire and it looked good in port.

Some guns drain the seawater better than others.

For the Bofors 40mm, there's a naval and airforce version. I think the 20mm Oerlikon drained itself pretty well, but I don't remember.
