From the number of postings, it seems that people aren't working as much on SH5 as they used on the previous games.
There aren't any Grey Wolves Projects, and comparatively few youtube tutorials.
Anybody have any idea why?
Thanks in advance.

Pandora's box is slowly being opened (GR2 format). Once I fully open it you'll see an explosion of mod activity. From what I just released you'll start seeing more activity :yep:
The GR2 format is the biggest hinderance currently.

Silent Hunter III was released for the on March 15, 2005 ,Silent Hunter V was released for the on March 2010, therefore there are five (5) years difference between the release SH3 and the release of SH5, this I think is the reason SH3 have more number of postings

By the time SH3 was two years old it already had a huge number of mods. What happened is that a large number of people like SH3 just the way it is, so SH4 actually got left out of the loop, mod-wise. Not there aren't some great supermods for it, but all the little mods are missing. SH5 was such a radical change that a lot of the SH3 players aren't getting what they want out of the game, so they stay with the earlier version. SH5 is a vast improvement in some areas, but gave up a lot to get those improvements. The mods have brought it a long way, and it is great, but there are some things a lot of people want that it just doesn't have yet. It doesn't help that the modders are having to rewrite major portions of the game just to do that.
It's taking a lot longer for it to get back to where a lot of people want it, so a lot of people are sticking with what they know.
im really enjoying the game again with a few mods ... SH3 with GWX had more depth and was more immersive for me ... one day SH5 will get there !

What tonschk said: If you had a time machine and could travel back to the same relative point in time after SH3 was released, you'd find the same issue. Heck, I played SH3 for ages playing with mod soups before GWX was done. :)
And I enjoyed every minute of it, I should say.
What I'm saying is that the modders' work isn't done yet (it'll never be "done", but what I mean is that we're not yet at the GWX stage), but we'll get there. There's no lack of interest. The stubborn existence of this community over all of those years is proof of that.
We'll get there. Trust me on that one. We are a fanatically devoted bunch. :DL

They say the memory is always the first thing to go. The original Grey Wolves was released in March 2006, just one year after SH3 debuted. GWX 1 came out in December of that year, three months shy of two years. Of course GWX 2 and 3 were later, but still...:sunny:

I went back and played SH4 for a time last night and I loved it, however, it didn't take long before I was pining for walk through the engine rooms or to turn and ask the navigator for our position and get an animated response. So, although I'll always love my SH4, I'm going to be on this deck for some time.
As far as the mods go, My currant soup is really very good as it is, so much so that I'm afraid to add much more in fear of overwriting something important.
As TDW stated earlier, this game has a different engine. The fact that he says he's close to "opening Pandora's box" is very exciting.
TDW, what ever that Pandora's box is, I can't wait to see what happens!
