Abu Qatada to be released from Long Lartin jail

A judge decided last week that his six-year detention could not continue after a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
The cleric faces terror charges in Jordan and the UK government says he is a threat to national security.

If he is deemed as being a threat to national security I hope the British taxpayer will not be contributing toward any welfare benefits.

Look at the bright side: It's hard to punch an extra eye hole in his skull as long as he's on the inside. Not even 7.62x51 FMJ travels all that well through concrete.

Having him walking around free range with a bulls eye on his back should offer many opportunities for justice to be finally served.

"Reach out and touch somebody" :DL

As to damn hajis in general, there's not much point in taking them prisoner other than to make them spill their guts. Once they're done providing information, on the other hand, they should be put down. If you're not even allowed to convince them to talk, what's the point? A bullet is a whole lot cheaper than three hots and a cot at taxpayers' expense and it's not like the world is going to miss them any.

The world might miss our people taken prisoner by them though. You don't execute prisoners because that gives the enemy license do do the same to you.

If Cameron as any bottle he should go and tell the eu and there human rights and tell them all to go and get stuffed then deport this thing back to Jordan to stand trial or be tortured I couldn't give a toss, but we don't want him in this country

The UK and Jordan had previously reached agreement that he would not be tortured if he was deported. It's funny that the UK government takes the word of torturers seriously. It's sad that this is even an issue to be discussed. It's depressing seeing all the people who are A-OK with torture and rendition.

Its sad that people are wanting to throw away long established british law and blame it on europes laws instead.
Britain screwed up on this from the word go. There should have been no trouble with convicting him under the already existing legislation on terrorism, instead they have tried introducing special laws and special detention clauses which have all failed.
Even the initial grant of residency was a balls up as there was absolutely no reason not to perfectly legally deport him there and then.
Between trying to recruit him to Millbank and trying to play best buddies with Abdullah Britain has made a royal mess for itself.
Charge him convict him and throw the bastard in Belmarsh.
