View Full Version : CTD every time I try to load... at my wits end
I must have uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times today. I can play the game one time. When I come back to play later, I load my campaign, it gets to the end of the load cycle, screens goes black, and I get "SilentHunter5: sh5.exe - Application Error." Click OK and that's that.
Even if I uninstall all the MODs, I get the same CTD indefinitely.
I made a DebugView, but it doesn't mean anything to me.
Any ideas?

Well, it's ridiculous, but here's my workaround:
1. Load SH5
2. Load a savegame that's right after the tutorial while in the bunker
3. Go to the boss and ask for mission orders, then start mission.
4. Once it loads and you're on the conning tower, load my campaign savegame.
At that point it loads without crashing. Why? F is I know, and it take likes 5-7 minutes to do three load games...
Ridiculous... but at least I can play.

If you are usinh OH2 then all you do is follow the instructions on starting the game using OH2 in the OH2 thresd . cheers . In other words start a career and then once in the bunker exit to saves and load the latest save . You must be able to enter the upgrade screen by clicking on the Flotilla Technical Officer and entering the upgrade screen .
Thanks Sober, but I'm not using OH2. Not sure what that is.
I will try to just enter the bunker and then load my savegame.

Hi,
just posted this in another thread regarding CTDs. Maybe it's of help...
"Hi,
i too run SH5 with Win 7 Pro 64bit without any problems. See my installed mods in my sig, but turned off "Antilag" that came with MO (?). I've seen so many CTD-posts, i did a list of things to check:
- Windows 7 up to date ?
- Videodriver up to date ?
- Patch 1.2 installed ?
- test with low video-settings
- test with Admin account rights
- test with Compatibility for Win XP
- test without "Antilag" (filename: "d3d9.dll")
- check DirectX (run: "dxdiag")
- version MS .NET framework ? (4.0 runs for me)
- version MS Visual C++ ? (2005,2008,2010 runs all for me)
- what Security software is running (AntiVirus, Firewall, HIPS, DEP/EMET) ?
- Pagefile settings ?
- check Windows 7 event log
I would appreciate any more ideas for the list that could cause CTDs or other errors."
