Hearing Protection

I am about to start my second job as a landscaper and I am looking at some type of protection for my ears. I have used foam earplugs in the past but I am looking at electronic ones now that are supposed to filter out loud noises while still allowing me to hear normal noises( like my boss yelling at me from across the yard to stop tearing up the grass:D). Anyone got any advice?

Its not electronic but does the job well.
You certainly can hear when someone is yelling or speaking next to you.

Some basic Peltor actives ear pros. No idea how they suit your line if work, but at least they work well against gunshots and explosions while amplifying pretty much everything else. Cold weather functionality is ok, except for the adjustment buttons becoming a bit stiff. Extremely hot weather makes your ears sweat heavily. Wearing comfortability is ok for extended use(hours at a time) without a helmet, and varies from helmet to helmet with one. Battery duration is good enough(several days?), after which they work just like normal passive ones.

The price isn't normally too bad for professional use, and your employer should really pay for them if they're what you require.

I like the percap. It's a foam plug, but on a band that hangs below your chIn. Easy in easy out.
