Windows 7 x64.

After I play SH5, the next time I reboot my computer the Checkdisk program runs right after the the MS logo. It usually finds a few errors, and I noticed today that they are SH5 files. I just got SH5 a week ago, and this Checkdisk only started the next day, so I know it's related to SH5.

Today, I pressed the key to bypass the check disk and just booted into Win 7. When I went to run SH5, I got a CTD while trying to load my campaign. I thought it was mod related at first, but then I tried to run SH5 without any mods and still got the CTD.

So, I rebooted the computer and let the checkdisk run. It found and "fixed" quite a few SH5-related files. After that, the SH5 launcher wouldn't even run with an error in qt4core. So, I'm reinstalling SH5 from scratch right now.

Anyway, anybody else get this checkdisk issue??

do you have a legal version of the game? games dont cause such things to happen but malicious software in pirated versions can.

if its legit then your computer is infected some other way and may have attatched itself to sh5 somehow so uninstall the game, remove any leftover files, run a good system cleaner then reinstall the game

it could also be a sign your hard drive is failing

Thanks Webster. I went ahead and reinstalled SH5. One thing I did differently was to install into the program files x86 folder. No idea if this will have any impact whatsoever. I was doing a lot of installing and uninstalling of mods and maybe this had an impact. I have my mod configuration finalized now, so maybe that will help. And finally, I have a SSD cache drive that links to my 1TB SATA3 HD. That cache drive had caused some issues in the past and I've considered just disconnecting it. Anyway, that might play a part in all this. Anyway, I will just monitor it for now.

Nah, I have a real version of SH5. Bought it for $5 + $4 shipping about 2 weeks ago. Not sure why anyone would pirate software that you sets you back $9, but there are definitely some real cheap skates out there!
