In a cafe in Zagreb (Croatia) called the Fly!bar, customers pay, what they think is the right price for the drink. Something that began as a short term marketing trick is now usuall business practice.
"We still haven't had a case that someone didn't pay, although there is the possibility. The minimum amount was left by a gentleman, that paid six kunas (80 cents) for beer and coffee" said the owner of Fly! Bar Marko Emer for Vecernji list.

We have a bar in Newcastle where you spin a wheel and you pay/receive wherever the pointer ends.
It ranges from fee, double round, 1x, 2x 3x.

In other news from Zagreb, subsim member Betonov has been reported missing. After an extensive search of Zagreb area, Betonov was found face down in the "Flybar" next to 5 empty kegs of ale. His liver was beyond recovery.
Finnish Immigration spike in Croatia.

So can I get a real European Budweis there?
We got this stuff in America called Budwieser, it is ok but not Budweis. I had some visiting my wifes grandparents, and have not been able to drink American Budwieser since.
Say yes, I will move there! Or at least close. :D I am still apprehensive of the Turks after all these years. They are so due to come rolling in as they have historically shown, plus I'm still pissy about the Cypress thing they are involved in.:O:
Turks don't know &^%$ about good beer, pure heathens.:haha::O:
(not germanic enough)
The only way that Budweiser is palatable to me is when it's served ice cold and even then it has to be a really hot day.
So this place is like the Humble Indie Bundle of Beverages? :O:

It would be interesting to know what the normal prices are at this bar.
Obviously they make a drinks-inclusive party tonight, where you can drink all you want for 150 kunas (girls 70).

They should definitely work on the name though - Poppers party :haha:

Zagreb has about the same prices as Ljubljana, so €1,20-1,50 for coffee and about €2,00 for a pint of beer

For you maybe. The ''provinces'' in Slovenia have average prices for coffee €1.00 and pint of beer €1.60. Non tourist areas of Croatia have even lower than that, while tourist areas (Adriatic coast mostly) can have a pint of beer up to €5. The trick is to find where locals frequent and make friends with the owner. You can get a pint for €1.00 or even free

Yep, you always have to compare the wage difference - how long you have to work for a beer.
The best prices I ever had was in the Chez republic in '92 - in the Old Town you paid about 50 cent for a pint, in working-class pubs you got it for 25 :o - was easy to make holidays there on low to no budget :DL
The prices in our Old Town, which is also the drinking quarter, are about 1.60 for a glass of Alt beer - that's 0.2 liter, with much higher prices in crappy discos or clubs. In my part of town it's about 1.40. In old-folks-pubs you can get it for 1 if you are lucky, but you have to listen to Schlager music the whole time :D
In my favorite concert venues, which are semi-legal, you get a 0.5 liter bottle for 1 - 1.50. :()1:

The pint index :DL
Showing a countries purchasing power by comparing how much beer one can order with the earnings of an hours wage :DL Should be a SubSim must to combat confusion on the forum due to its international composition. Like the big mack index I think it's called :hmmm:
I am payed €4,3 an hour (which is decent for a student/non qualified worker) so that gets me 2 pints plus tip :DL

...Speaking of Zagreb, I bought some"Napolitanke" wafers, and guess where they were made? Zagreb. I used to buy these cookies when I was in Moscow, so I love 'em.

The napolitanke from Kras (Zagreb) were so popular in former Yugoslavia, that the generic name for these kind of waffers is simply ''Politanke''.
And Kras is luckily still running
