How does the old saw go about how Conservatives are just Liberals that have been mugged? :DL

LA rock band EVOLOVE forced to take Vigilante justice in Stockton.

Dear Editor,
On Wednesday February 8th around 1am after a performance at The Plea For Peace in Stockton, CA, my band EVOLOVE pulled into the Denny***8217;s located at 642 W. Charter Way between Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd and S. Harrison Street for a quick bite before heading back on the road. Within a 30 minute period our vehicle was vandalized and $4,000 of gear was stolen from us, literally under our nose. Our first reaction was to call 911. The dispatcher informed us that no police unit would be sent out and our only option was to file a report.
In this day and age there is a lot of technology that protects consumers from these exact incidents. One of the items stolen from us was a brand new iPad2. Right away we realized we could track the iPad through my iPhone via an App that we had downloaded previous to leaving for tour. With this knowledge in hand, we flagged down a passing by city cop hoping for help retrieving our stolen gear. The officer proceeded to inform us he was on a break. After pleading with him, he called dispatch who reiterated that our only option was to file a report online. Upon giving us this news he then proceeded to carry on with his dinner plans and drove into the McDonalds drive-through.
Enraged with the options at hand, and knowing we had a short period of time in which our gear would remain local, we took action. My 4 bandmates jumped into our vehicle and proceeded to the address showing up on our tracker at approximately the corner of Berkeley Avenue and Fairfax Road. Upon reaching the suspected criminal***8217;s house, 911 dispatch was contacted again by my band to be informed that action was about to take place in an attempt to retrieve our stolen goods. Dispatch told my bandmates to contact the County Sheriff because the property was out of city limits. A call was then placed to the County Sheriff and dispatch referred them back to City police since the crime occurred in city limits.
Frustrated by the run around, the boys took matters into their own hands. http://evolovetheband.com/wp/?p=109

I woulnd't call that vigilante justice. The punks are going to be trialed by a court of law and not the street.

Freelance criminal investigation is more like it

I see your point but what court? I didn't read about any arrests or police investigations in the article. Except for the phone I don't even think they got any of their stuff back.

So much for the justice part :DL

Maybe they deliberately wrote ''Vigilante justice'' as a small hint to the near future. When they buy some baseball bats and bike chains.

I could have believed that happening in certain parts of rural Britain...but America :hmmm:

I sure hope that first officer enjoyed his break

Agreed...LOL

It might even be why the cops weren't all that eager to help them out.

Did you have to do that? This has nothing to do with the story.

heh, no big surprise there. Stockton is a Mexican armpit. It's an excrement-hole reminiscent of Tijuana.

It's a sad truth that this type 'Not our problem' occurs all over the U.S. every day.
Then those that claim to be protecting us wonder why it makes us sick to hear them addressed as Hero's.

I know alot of very good people in the Law Enforcement field.
(I've had my run in's with them from time to time, good and bad)

The bad Cops are pampered SOB's that should be lucky to work at fast food joints.
The Good Cops get lumped into the outrage that is growing against all Cops.

I'm all for giveing good benifits and such to those that earn them.
But I see to many really, REALLY, bad Cops getting a slap on the hand that would get me fired from my job, and probably jail time.

That is very true and not at all fair, but realistically the only ones who can fix their image are those good cops. They have to stop tolerating their bad eggs and become proactive in rooting them out.

I don't imagine the Union would allow it though.

Too bad.

As someone who has at least somewhat liberal views, and has been on the victim end of both mugging (where I had to stand up for myself) and police inaction (in case of a much more serious crime than mugging), I obviously take offense at this sort of irrelevant and unfair generalization.

Although I assume your response above will stand for this post as well. Not cool :-?

Liberal is not identical to pacifist...

@CCIP: I get your point, however I don't offended by August's words. Just a little jab at the libs, still fair in a political fight - if you don't mind my word play ;).
I haven't been mugged, but have my experiences from the receiving end of violence, both from criminals and police - don't get me started about inept/unwilling coppers. I can't change anything about it, I don't have a trauma from it when thinking about it or someone makes a joke. Maybe if anything at all, those experiences sharpened my perception of reality - that's why I am the miserable, cynical **** that I am.

No wonder the thieves were not impressed when those 3 goofy-looking pussies approached them :haha:

Plea for Peace is a music venue not a peace rally, if they had played at the Mean Fiddler would it mean they were tight fisted violinists?
