Hello. I apologize if this topic has already been dealt with, I tried to search the forum, but without success, so I am posting a new thread.
I have noticed that radio messages sent by bdu to me go to my captain's log, and moreover, I get no notification when I get them. I cannot see them in my messages tab, only in the capt's log.
When I intercept a message, or a message is for someone else, I get a notification and the message is displayed in my radio messages tab.
This is puzzling, is there a way to fix this?
Thank you

Are you using the mod, NewUIs with TDC for SH5 by TheDarkWraith?
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166093
I use it and I get a flash on the message receive icon when I receive a message.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since we are on the subject, I don't getting any sound when a message comes through. Shouldn't there be a sound, I haven't recieve a message while in real time. I am usually in time accelerate when I get one, would this effect me not hearing a sound (morse code) when getting a message?
If anyone can answer this, it would be great!

I also couldn't hear the sound when a message was received, but somehow it works now after I have played around with different mods... It's just that I dont receive all my messages to my messages tab...

When messages are sent to you they will come TDWs tab. But there is a % chance that it will not get to you (set in options)
When this message is sent using the campaign layer and it is classed as must be received - it will drop your TDC (set in options) and play a sound.
If TDW tab does not pick it up - the game one will.
So if you get messages and there is nothing there - check the captains messages.

Thanks. But I am still a bit confused (I am quite new to this game). For example, when I send my status report to BDU I get a radio message back, but I only see it in my capt's log; there is no notification, and it's not in my messages tab.
On the other hand, when I get a message from another Uboat, or enemy, I hear the sound, there is a notification and it's in my messages...
How can I set the options to be able to read messages from BDU to my Uboat in my messages tab?
In regards to Raven2012's question, I hear the morse code sound regardless of time compression....

OK, I heard sound when I got a message. Then I went back to a earlier saved game of same campaign and when I got message this time, same one, it didn't make a sound. Is this because the sound plays when I get the message as I play the campaign fresh. Like if I went back to earlier saved game, it assumed I already got the sound and doesn't play it again, like the sound is a live event. Hope that makes sense, lol.
Love this game, but so many new bugs, even after 60+ mods. Why couldn't Ubisoft sent us a finished game? :har:

Raven I know what you mean but in a way, I'm glad this game and the others 3and4 are not complete. For maybe the first time we have a simulation created by a company and finished by the players...that's really incredible :yeah:, besides, I think it's fun modding up the game. Anyway, getting to the problem, I too usually get no replies from the patrol reports in the message box. I am using all of TDW's stuff it's great! Just the patrol report replies.
Maybe we could get TDW to chime in here if he's got any ideas why we have to check the Captains Log, otherwise it may be just one of those things.
As far as the sounds go, you won't hear one unless you have the boat set to TC1 on incoming messages. I have that setting on unless I don't want the constant interruptions. The sounds (I'm also using DBSM sound which is great as well) are really good, A "Morse Code type beeping" sometimes followed by the radioman calling out the type of message "intercepted enemy transmission" or "Message from the BDU", just great.
I hope we can get the little problem of the patrol replies getting into the message box fixed, otherwise just keep that TC1 on incoming messages on and you should hear the incoming sounds.

It's quite simple really. As I don't have control of the captain's log (game has control of it) I can't stipulate what goes into it nor do I have the ability to remove items from it. My radio messages I have complete control over. That said, there is always a % chance that the radio operator doesn't receive or intercept a message. Those messages that appear in the captain's log and not in the radio messages log are not supposed to be received. That's why I say if you have the radio messages engine running totally ignore the captain's log messages.
This % chance doesn't apply if the maker of the radio messages set a certain thing saying always received for that radio message.

Ok, the sound is on TC1. I usually have it on time control going fast, thats why I don't hear it.
I'm slowly getting my mods in order, I think I have them right were I want them. Yes SH5 is great with all the mods. The player made mods are really great. If you have 60+ mods it take a little bit to get the mods organized. I know I am on here a lot asking questions, it's because I love the game and always trying to improve on it.

Yes, last night I received another red reply from the BDU after my report was sent in. Somewhere I saw a place where I could change this percentage/chance that you would receive a reply. So, once again, I spoke up a bit too soon as I knew what Raven was talking about 'cause it was happening to me, now it has changed and I am receiving the replies. Thanks for the explanation too. Now I know what to expect and why. Even in the best of circumstances a U-Boat would not receive every transmission from the BDU.

Yes, I found a mod list from Sober which I use as sort of a model for the order that I arrange the mods. It made all the differance in the world.
