View Full Version : I saw a small fraction of the future
I saw nothing outside. I was in a room where a person showed me some things. I can not remember everything he showed me. However I remember this contraption. It was a small box, neutral in color and it were doubtless made ***8203;***8203;of metal. What it could perform was not of this world. The man ordered an entire regular coffee mug through a website (I did not see how) He Opened this box, wich was empty, he did do something(didn't see what), closed box again and pressed a button.
Now we just wait, it will take awhile he said and after a while I could hear a strange sound from inside the box. After some time, he opened box and in his hand had he one white coffee mug.
I can remember, that I replied him, that it was nothing new in using 3D-printer.
Maybe not, he replied me. This mug has, however, been built atom for atom which has been transmitted through the air.
Remember that he said, only simple things can be received and none living things can be used.

I know a combination of to much Sci-fi and Discovery, will give dreams like that.

So instead of sustained fusion power, faster-than-light travel, artificial gravity, sentient AI or any other number of awesome future-things we can have, we're going to have a box that makes coffee mugs?! And it receives its atoms by air, not even devising the object out of nothing?
This is a pretty boring future we're heading to...

I'd say that all depends on what the coffee cups look like! Who knows, they could be so cool it makes it all worth it. :DL

The mug I saw, was pure white. I guess that this mug was some kind of presentation of what this machine could do. I wish I could remember some more of this weird dream.
I wich I knew what year it was.

Dont forget to ask for newspaper when ordering coffee.:yep:
Even thou it was some kind of a weird dream, it made me wonder
Is it possible that we sometime in the future will be able to recieve simple things that have been send through air atom by atom. Maybe not so complexed as a human(you know like they do in Star Trek)
I say yes.

"Tea, Earl Grey, hot!"
Makes you wonder why the machine works so quickly, but when they have
photon torpedo incoming, they scream for 20 seconds doing nothing else before
it hits. :O:

After reading your first post, I though that you had hit the sauce a little too hard. Then you clarified that it was a dream.

Yeah or how they can travel to the opposite end of the galaxy but can't manage to stay in their seats when they run into a little turbulence. :DL
