View Full Version : British U-Class Sub/No Credit??

I ran Across a British U-Class submarine and promptly sank it. Other than the fact my crew was a bit morose (no cheering this time), we didn't get credit for a warship sinking. What's up??
Is there a hidden rule I missed about sinking our own kind? I'm just afraid I did something wrong by sinking it. So why wasn't our Boat credited with sinking the Sub?? Anyone else have trouble?

Really where the hell did you find it and how did you go about sinking it??? :O Cheers mate :woot:

Well did you lock the sub and did it appear on the recognition manual?? In OHII and the enhanced recognition manual there is no sub category, so I am thinking while there are British subs in the museum they aren't registered in the game....but this is deffinetly something that should be looked into perhaps included in OHII, Trevally?? :D

Trevally.

Yes - they are in OHII and in the stock campaign.

If you do manage to sink one, you will get renown, morale and promo points.
There is only one campaign objective where they count and that is the sneak close to Malta and sink sub. This is in the Med campaign:up:

Ahhh yeah I didn't pay enough attention....dogfish sank a friendly. Yeah dogfish sinking friendly units is always messed up in the game, and I don't think that renown counts for and friendly units

Oh, you mean the blue ones are friendly???:o DOHHH
Anyway, now I feel better. I paused the game just to make sure I wasn't getting it wrong. This was a Genuine U-Class Englander. I went to Battle stations, silent running (He was coming at me) got into position and stopped. At 900 mtrs / 90AOB I fired a electric eel and caught him in the bow. He managed to fly off a SSS / abandoning ship but I didn't see any survivors.
That was it.
Wow, I seem to have gotten a rare one.
By the way, this one was a 100 or so Kms west of England or Ireland. No where near Malta. EDIT: Strike that, 100Kms west of the Faroe islands/Torshaven
I do hope I get some kinda credit for him.

You have the undying admiration of your fellow Uboot Kaleuns at SubSim, DogFish! Surely that counts for something? :03:

I don't know if they're randomly generated or what (haven't gotten into mission design yet for SH5, Last Modding i did was SH3 :P)
But they seem to occasionally pass from somewhere near scapa flow towards Bergen norway.

I have never bothered trying to run one down tho...

Wow, never seen one out that way before! Sunk four or five in various playthroughs of the OHII Med campaign.... I'll be looking out for them everywhere now!:haha:

Yeah, One more comment. I play with map contacts on and we got a blue line so I got ahead and we sat and sat and sat. I've got the periscope up and it's daylight, I start to get nervous in the service when I see the little telltale sea wake of a sub, so I thought, oh it's one of ours. I don't know why but I went ahead submerged to "play with him", see if the "U-Boat" reacted to my being there.
When the sub got close enough, (I had full zoom on the scope) I saw the bulbous bow.
If it hadn't been for that weird looking bow sticking out of the water he might have gotten me (at least in the real world).
Close!!

I got one too. I posted it in the german Ubi-Forum: It was a only a very weak contact and it was fast. We alarm dived to peris. depht. It was so close and fast, i had no time for a torpedo. So i surfaced as soon as it passed above us. The swell hardly allowed us the to use the gun. I made some hits and it went down astern (after ?) with running propellers. Poor guys, had no chance at all. A very cool game experience !
