I purchased the v1.5 upgrade (Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific & U-Boat Missions Bundle) from direct2drive in July 2011. Life conspired to delay me from installing it until now. And I am not sure what to do. I saved the email I got with the activation key, but I didn't write down the file names.
The instructions said ...
DownloadDownload Game File - 3.81 GB File Size
DownloadDownload Bonus Items File - 54 MB File Size
I have a zip file sh4_dd.zip. I think that is the "game file". I imagine I should unzip it and run setup.exe. I can't find anything that might correspond to the "bonus file". Hopefully it isn't important.
Gamefly ate direct2drive, and I can't seem to re-download the files I purchased.
thanx

Maybe the bonus files just contains the PDF manual and maps.Try installing what you can find. The main file probably has what you need .If you have a loading screen with a U-boat and you see 1.5 on the main menu screen then you have what you need.
If D2D got taken over I am not sure what you can do and you'd have to have a way to show that you purchased the game from them. You could try support.

I received this from Gamefly:
Dear Direct2Drive Customer,
Thank you for being a Direct2Drive customer. We appreciate your business over the years, and GameFly is looking forward to providing you the best gaming experience possible.
We're packing up the games and getting ready for the big move next week! January 24 is moving day, when we'll be transitioning your games and information from Direct2Drive to GameFly. Find out more. (http://click.emails.gamefly.com/?qs=6e1d4fd7b40aa794ff79cc640f8ef96031c79ba13623b6 41f5d50db9e14185dc)
Key Dates
January 24
January 25 We'll be moving everything from Direct2Drive to GameFly, so you won't be able to access either site on this day. January 23 is the last full day that Direct2Drive will be accessible.
Sign in to your account on GameFly and start playing games! See below for details.
Direct2Drive Titles on GameFly
We're currently moving as many game titles as possible from Direct2Drive to GameFly. We will continue to work hard to bring ALL Direct2Drive titles to GameFly, if possible. Some older titles may take a bit longer or may not be migrated if their specs are no longer supported by today's technology. The number of these unsupported titles will be minimal, and will not impact the majority of our customers. We'll send you a separate e-mail if any of the titles you've purchased are not supported on GameFly.
GameFly Subscription Required?
A GameFly subscription is not required to buy and download PC & Mac games. You'll simply need to log in to GameFly with your Direct2Drive e-mail address and reset your password (if you don't already have a GameFly account). This is absolutely free, and you can do this on the GameFly website or in the GameFly Client. You may purchase a GameFly subscription if you want to rent console titles and access our library of Unlimited PC Play titles in the Client.
Your GameFly Login
If you currently have a Direct2Drive account but no GameFly account: We will create a GameFly login for you using the same e-mail address you currently log in with on Direct2Drive. You'll need to reset your password for security reasons. Your login will allow you to view your purchase history, download games you've purchased on Direct2Drive, and buy more games from GameFly.
If you currently have an account on both Direct2Drive and GameFly: If your accounts on Direct2Drive and GameFly use the same e-mail address, we will merge your accounts for you. If you currently use a different e-mail address on Direct2Drive than you use on GameFly, we will not be able to merge your accounts. If this is the case - and you'd like your accounts merged - please change your Direct2Drive e-mail address by January 23 to match your GameFly e-mail address.
If we merge your accounts, all of your GameFly information, including your login, will remain unchanged. Your Direct2Drive purchase history will be viewable in your GameFly account. If you wish to use your Direct2Drive payment information to purchase games instead of the payment information in your GameFly Account, you'll need to update your billing information directly on the GameFly site.
More questions?
Please don't hesitate to contact our Digital Support team so we can answer your questions personally.
And then after the "move" I received this:
Dear Direct2Drive Customer,
Welcome to GameFly! Buying your favorite games just got easier - now you have three ways to pre-order and purchase PC & Mac games, all connected with one login for your convenience.
If you've bought games on Direct2Drive, these purchases are now saved in your GameFly Purchase History.
You'll be able to access your GameFly account with one login across our website (http://click.emails.gamefly.com/?qs=eeb0f55689ed12e779aebab293c9e02c1e7c28d16c3047 48f72a72054b6beeb1), Client (http://click.emails.gamefly.com/?qs=eeb0f55689ed12e7ebfb5454650a40ef9c92313114e2cf 14c2b1f3a8af12d368), and mobile app (http://click.emails.gamefly.com/?qs=eeb0f55689ed12e786bf99e4bec9a04fbbb21b65fa98f0 ac770faed5ac84cb57). Your GameFly account will let you continue to purchase games just like you did on D2D.
Your D2D Purchases on GameFly
To log in to your GameFly account and view your Purchase History: Go to the GameFly Password Reset screen (http://click.emails.gamefly.com/?qs=eeb0f55689ed12e726f714de82b76e81728dbc2cec4ba1 d3b999b4802c74ab5b). Enter the e-mail address from your D2D account and click "SUBMIT." You'll receive an e-mail shortly; follow the e-mail link and the instructions on the website. Once you've reset your password, you'll be able to go to My Account, and view your Purchase History.

I'll stick with Steam and Gamers Gate that you very much. They tend to give the game all in one file or it just D/Ls all at once in the Steam manner.I do not trust a company that rents and sells
console games and then just decides to jump into the PC MAC market and those Gamefly adds really annoy me. "If you are a gamer you have to have Game Fly!" No I don't.

I followed a link I got from direct2drive and to gamefly, and found my history. According to a response I got from gamefly sh4 v1.5 isn't available for download yet.
However my browser download history shows that I did download sh4_dd.zip from direct2drive. I thought it was patch, but the install told me it found v1.4, and it wouldn't install v1.0 until I removed 1.4. This surprises me because I expected to see something about V1.5.
I guess I try uninstalling V1.4, installing what I have from sh4_dd.zip, and see what it is.
Should version 1.5 report itself as 1.5?
What is an easy way to tell if I do have v1.5?
Thanx for the help

I installed from the sh4_dd.zip from direct2drive. And activated it online US subs and the pacific theater available in sub school or war patrol.
Is it possible that I didn't actually get v1.5 from direct2drive?
Your main menu screen should tell you. If should say what version you have in the lower right corner. Version 1.5 will also have U-boat Missions as one of the options on the main menu screen.

Did you check your browser history for any other files that may have been downloaded on the same day? Maybe that would get you the filename for 1.5.
Also if you have 1.0 installed you will definitely need at least to find the upgrades to make it 1.4.

Well looks like it was a false positive with AVG and the Property.DLL file
