Installing Mods for noobs

Well Im wanting to expand my game play in sh3. And well Ive been reading some things. And well I was wanting to get some mods for my sh3 game. And I was wondering what would be the best mods and the easiest ones to start with. And also a step by step instruction on installing them. Im by no means a computer no all. So please help me thanks

I would start with the GWX 3.0 expansion ... it adds alot of good stuff to SHIII http://thegreywolves.com/gwx3/

Next I would get the MOD installer http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products-jsgme.html

This is needed to install AND un-install any other mod that ya wanna add into your game easily


If ya don't have it yet get the 7-ZIP http://www.7-zip.org/

It opens up the mods that you download allowin' you to install whats intended ... make sure ya get the correct version for your operating system

Im still very confused on the install? Do i download GWX then install the game? Or is the download already there when I reinstall SH3

Uninstall SH3, do not keep your savegames. Make a fresh install and apply the version 1.4 patch (it might tell you it's 1.3 during the installation of the patch, that is just a typo). After that, install GWX3. Make sure to give the right path to your SH3 directory.

In the version of GWX I downloaded the JSGME mod enabler was already included. You only need to unpack the downloaded mod files into the mods directory in the SH3 folder and activate them via JSGME.
If one mod's files overwrite older ones, the mod enabler will warn you. You may want to further inquire on the forums in that case.

Make sure ya patch your vanilla SHIII http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=158

Do a fresh install of SHIII ... then D/L all parts of GWX 3.0 ( the GWX3 exe. plus GWX3-1bin thru GWX3-bin7 )

Make sure ya D/L all parts to the same place ... when you have parts D/L click the GWX3 exe and it'll put all parts together into the GWX3 installer which then you'll install into SHIII

CAVEAT: some of the gwx.bin sites contain a corrupted .bin file.

there is also a full single install torrent available,thats what i used and it works perfectly,the link is on the GWX website :salute:
