No doubt there are a few red faces at American news channel CNN today after one geographically challenged employee failed to locate London, one of the world’s biggest capital cities, on their map.http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-world/2012/01/30/cnn-tells-viewers-london-is-in-norfolk-115875-23727083/

One witty Twitter user said he was waiting to see the coach loads of American tourists trying to find Buckingham Palace in the rural backwaters of Norfolk.:D

To be honest most Norfolk people wouldn't be able to find London on a map, they probably couldn't spell map either and would have difficulty pointing at anything specific on it due to webbed fingers:03:

I spent a couple of years working in Norfolk, hated it! The roads were tiny, with a tractor or a lorry around every corner, or worse - a tourist! I never met any girls there with webbed body parts, but I do know two Cornish girls who have webbed feet. :o

I think the North Sea should reclaim Norfolk.

Can't blame them; they went to London and mistook it for Islamabad.

You stupid Yurrupean...Yuropeon...Europe people! America is today what Britain was two hundred years ago! You used to say that the problem with foreign countries is that there are so many foreigners there. Well, it's even more true today.

Your capital is where we tell you it is! You'll take it and you'll like it. Learn the truth and toe the line!

One more thing...why does everybody hate us so much? We just want to help. :D

Awesome. We can send men to the moon, but lack even the most basic concept of terrestrial geography. That's okay, it's not as though we've been living here for a few million years or anything.

I think one of the geniuses from CNN misspelled London while looking it up on google maps. The town the sign points to is actually Loddon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loddon,_Norfolk)

A question to the Brits: Is Norfolk really that awful? :o I once thought about a job offer in Norwich - from reading only, the city sounded quite decent.

Norwich ain't too bad, although I am duty bound by my location to rubbish Norfolk at every opportunity, particularly when the derbies come around ;)
Used to be a sod to park though, not too bad these days.
Norfolk in general is quite nice though, particularly around Wroxham and on the North Coast around Sheringham and that.
Great Yarmouth used to be the seaside resort in the area but the recession has hit it hard, lots of empty shops and I think only Jim Davidson appears on the end of the pier shows these days, he's the only thing keeping Yarmouth running I think...that and arcade machines.

Love thy neighbours, eh? Same here, my duty is to mock any other German region than the glorious Rhineland. :DL

Talking about the recession, actually the pay in Norwich would have been 20% less than I make here, and this at a company which has 1000 times as many employees as mine has...

:hmmm: can we absolutely certain it was the moon they landed on?

Well, there's a Moon in Pennsylvania... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_Township,_Pennsylvania) :03:

I was there 94-96 and Norwich was a sod to drive to as well as park in. The A47 is (was?) the worst A-road surely?

Let's see, good things...? I was in the audience for a Vanessa show once - usually all light hearted stuff but ours was about domestic violence .

So not good then!

Wroxham - aaargh! Roys of Wroxham - Roys IS Wroxham, the only shop in town - when the Golden Arches finally arrived in town it was in (one of) Roys! One cashpoint, and don't even bother in the holiday season - bloody tourists even slower than the tra'ers (tractors for those whom English is a first, second, or even third language :O:).

The only good points were having Clem the landlord at the Railway give us a bar tab each month (I very much doubt he's still around), and The Mundesly Royal (or Royal Hotel, Mundesley - I've just double checked the name and it gets some fab ratings at tripadvisor.co.uk) disco nights, and, err, that's about it. Oh, it was my first dealings with a corner shop that opened till 11pm :o, how times change!

No wait......! :o

You're a few million years old? :DL

Seriously we've always had our share of people who couldn't read a map. The way I look at it "we" went to the moon and survived that long in spite of such people and we always will.

Yeah, the A47 was designed by Satans traffic committee. It's probably quicker to take the smaller B roads to Norwich than that thing. Still, it's a bit better than it was, but even so...ugh.

Oh bloody hell, Vanessa...that's going back, she used to drive me mad, well...her and some of the people that showed up...bit like Mr Kyle these days... :nope:

Oh, and there's a little song around here:

"I can't read and I can't write
But I can drive a tra'er
But I was born in Ipswich Town
So it don't really ma'er." :haha:

Didn't even have the courtesy to call it New Norfolk. :nope:

And Vanessa was nowhere near as bad as Kyle!

Or Delia - "where are you, c'mon, where are you?" Classy Norfolk Broad - see what I did there?
