Hi everyone, new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could help me. Just bought the steam version of SH3 and installed GWX3, everything seemed to go well while installing. Now when I attempt to launch the game it says "The game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time." Was curious if anyone else has had this message and is there a solution. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Aboard Ronnie67! :yeah:
I did not have your particular error using steam but my error was SH3 would not load at all nor would I get an error message. I found that it was running in the background and I had to stop it using task manager. Then the game would run. I used SH3 Commander to run the game after that episode without having any more failure to load errors. My Nvidia 8800 gt card also caused some errors with GWX until I disabled anti-aliasing. SH3 commander can be found here:

I have also had to re-install the game several times due to crashes from mods I used. If you have to re-install make sure you completely delete the SH3 game folder from the steamapps folder. I made a backup copy of the game after I downloaded it from steam.
If you do an advance search of the forum for "Steam Version" and select the Silent Hunter III forum only. There are a lot of threads in reference to steam and SH3.
Good Luck

If your correctly using jsgme, you shouldn't have to reinstall after bad mod crashes

After reading the forums I found that SH3 Commander should be installed in a separate folder IE c:\Programs. I made a Sh3 commander folder on my C drive to install it to.

I did not know that GWX could be installed using jsgme? I used its installer. I only used jsgme to install other mods.
Thanks

Your doing it correctly, just use jsgme to uninstall a mod after a crash if you deem that is the cause.

Thanks for the help, it appears steam was running in the background, all I had to do was close it down and restart, now I have the MaGui and GWX running... incredible. Amazed at quality, I remember playing Novalogic's Wolfpack in the 90's, showing my age, but sheesh... incredible.
Thanks again.

Why? Most people who bought it through steam run it just fine. I got mine in a steam sale. It would cost me more just to start my car.

Principle!
I'm sure you don't go down to the mall just to buy a game. :)

I only go to the mall for a specific purpose. If its to buy a game, then yes, I only go to the mall to buy a game.
