View Full Version : Conning tower destroyed - kills people after surfacing?

Moin and hello,

i´ve got a small problem with SH3. On my last trip with my IXb i had a small battle with two light cruisers. I attacked them submerged but one detected my scope and started to firing at it. The conning tower was destroyed that way. After the battle i went home and surfaced my sub - until here no problem.
Then i saved the game and loaded it one day later. 5 members of the crew died instantly because the game send them to the brigde. Is there any workaround to solve this problem/bug?
I play SH3 with Living Silent Hunter 5.1 and my mods are:

I am not sure if that is a problem caused by SH3 or LSH. But I am confident that you will get the best support if you post your question in the LSH threat:

interesting, Hsie patch of the sh3.exe inlcudes a lazy WO fix, which forces him to the bridge, (stock Sh3 leaves him in quarters on surfacing), maybe it is this, that is sending the crew to the bridge?

Yes, you are absolutely right. Normally, only 4 are sent to the bridge...:hmmm:

The conning tower was destroyed

Happened to me with GWX long time before h.sie's patch and result was the same: mass suicide of the watch crew.

The only workaround would be to man the deckgun only before you save surfaced with destroyed conning tower.

First the game puts the crew at their stations and runs the saved damage state script after this operation - causing the dead.

I found a way to solve the problem:

i only save the game submerged. It´s not the best way but it works in 80%. The other 20% i´m not able to load the saved game. But i do not loose my conning tower on every patrol :yeah:

I cannot remember the details, but this is a known bug.

Basically it will consume your entire crew - it keeps sending up crew to the bridge and they die.

I cannot remember the cause or the fix.
