What is the sh.sdl file?

I'm asking what the file is because I have over written many times with other mods. First with FX_Update0_0_19, then Open Horizons II base mod and Environmental mod and then finally Subflags_0_0_8. Is it going to make a difference which order? Doesn't seem like much of a file to make a deal over, just wondering.

It's the games master sound list/mixer. If a sound isn't registered here it cannot be 'called'

How can I edit a sdl file? Also does the sdl adjust the sound volume of certain sounds? I notice when I installed OHII full it over writes another sdl file and the volume of my interior diesel engines sound lower.

I found the sdl editor on this site, wasn't looking in right place. Going to tweak the OH II interior engine sounds.
