View Full Version : My boss is a jackass.

Yeah, he is.
He sits on his backside in the truck shoving coffee and donuts in his fat face. While we work out in a cold rain, with a stiff Jersey wind cracking like a whip.
I hurt my back, because the guy he hired (his brother) was too hungover to use a jackhammer without puking, so I had to use it...
Well I called out tonite, and the only other guy on our crew (besides me) who can use heavy machinery without killing anyone is in the hospital with Pneumonia.
Looks like fatboy has to drive the shovel tonite.
I bet he fixes the heat in it after this.
Freezing your butt of is always endurable when you spend all your time in the truck, on the phone. Eating quick check subs and farting.
Have fun in the trenches for a few days you jackass.
Anyone else have a fat lazy stooge they have to fake smile at in order to feed your family?

I used to have a great boss, she'd let me finish on a Friday at lunch so I could drive the 240 miles home, start at midday on a Monday so I could drive back at a reasonable time (not the 5am starts I had been doing), and although my official work started at 0830 if I'd been running the bar the night before, or even on the other side of it, she'd let me get away with somewhere between 0830 - 0930. I'd also get plenty of time off for sport and study.
I used to cover for her, it wasn't all one-way. :yeah:
My work was always done on time and to a high standard, I just had a messy desk. :D

But hey on the offchance that you ain't just being a troll can you think of the two usual ways to hurt your back using a jackhammer?(have a clue, they are two things you are not supposed to do).

They involve things you are not supposed to do, the most common is trying to force it, the second is trying to jank it free when you get the point stuck(which often goes with trying to force it).
In both cases its down to the person using it not the boss...unless of course the person using the tool doesn't know how to use it in which case they shouldn't be on the job and that would be the fault of the boss.
Even if you use the machine properly, you can still get a sore back and other muscles.
When I worked in Denmark in 1989 I was asked to beat a fault floor put up the floor was approximately 1500 square metres. Then think to stand with a jackhammer from early morning to late evening. After a few weeks you feel it in your back and his arms, etc.

I've had the odd incompetent over the years but always tried to give them a wide birth whenever possible and especially in physical confrontation situations.

Everyone has them, just like every employer deals with incompetent employees.
The people I have most problems with are engineers and safety officers who don't know their job yet still have to be dealt with....I find that asking them a question is a very good way of getting rid of them.

If only the same could be done with incompetent politicians, and in-laws. :D

A trait which you bring with you to the forum. 99.9% of your posts are factually correct (like the famous disinfectant, I only say 99.9% as I don't know if there is a 0.1% but I'm just covering my arse) but they don't generally come across in a pleasant way. Just saying, we aren't (all) engineers or safety officers. :D

Is that a redundant word in there.
Then again you wouldn't expect an answer or a checking of facts from a politician would you so are they really incompetent?

There was no mention of the tooth fairy. Call it what you like.

Ok my workday began at 0700 and finished at the 1530th In between I had some regular breaks. 0900-0915, 1200-1230 and 1400-1415. After I had been taught how such a contraption worked and how I would work with it correctly, I was also told, that I could hold the breaks I might be needed
Although I worked maybe 20-30 minutes at a time and then held a 5-10 minutes breaks, I could feel it in my back after a week of using a jackhammer (Hilti)

The tooth fairy has been put on hold while OHSA try and figure out a decent anchor point for the safety harness.

Thats because you were getting exposed to both hand and full body vibration for a long time, the breaks are not only supposed to be split during the workday but during the week too.
The other common problem one was the vibrator, the difference being that unlike the jackhammer you would tend to get someone like fatsos brother Soopaman mentions always going for that job day after day because...well its "easy". They end up even more buggered than the fella getting shaken on the hammer.

So may I ask what your trying to imply? That I am incompetent? Or are you being a troll?
I am usually on the heavy machinery.
If his employ, under the nepotism rule would curb his alcoholism, I could have been at my usual post, instead I am missing work, which I hate at all costs.
I resent your implication. And am resisting insulting you the same way you did me.
Edit: Oh I get it. Your my boss, Hi Pete you moron, gain a few more pounds. You almost had me fooled, silly.:D

Its very simple, what did you do to make your back hurt in one shift with the jackhammer?
I am usually on the heavy machinery.
And?
I resent your implication. And am resisting insulting you the same way you did me.
What implication and what insult?
But hey since you are being rather obtuse lets just try some theory and see how it fits.:hmmm:
You were angry at work 'cos your boss annoyed you, so in typical fashion in a way that happens thousands of times all round the world you ended up pushing and pulling on the tool you didn't want to be using which put strain on your back that shouldn't have been there and now it hurts.

I feel as if you were labeling me incompetent. I have a strong work ethic and will defend it. I get paid good money and give quality work.
And it wasn't just one shift. My post was born out of 3 months of this crap, 2 times a week, this moron could not handle working nights, but because he was the bosses bro, we all have to simmer down and take it, the rest of us would be canned....Union or not.
I am also not the largest guy, I am 160 pounds soaking wet with a winter coat on, and yes indeed. Perhaps inexperience did play a part, after all I was hired as a machine operator. Our particular rig is a 90 pound dinosaur.
I humbly apologize for calling you a troll Tribesman, you were sincerely asking, and you an ok fella too.:salute:

Is your Boss an arse if he had to go to Florida for a funeral the day before the big snow came in and you have to cover for him plowing snow?
1st time in 10 years I've had to do that.
Maybe I should ask him to bring home proof.
