Hi Kaleuns,
the search didn't work on this. After 6 hours submerged, my CO2 level was already at a toxic 12,5 %. Correct me from wrong but this is a major bug imho. As i've learned, the type VII could dive for a 48 hrs without the crew being killed. Is this default in stock SH5 or maybe caused by any mod ?

I don't think the percentage bar has anything to do with actual composition of the breathable atmosphere, if it did then there would be no point it going from 0 to 100%, because everyone would be dead before it even got to 20%!!

I read it as 0% = fresh as a daisy, 100% = YOU DEAD SUKKA!

I can't imagine that. Afaik it's always measured as % of the breathable air ?

Imagine as you wish, but in game the crew will survive and operate up to 99%.

I don't think there is a mod to change the scale from 0-100% to a realistic 0-20%. So I guess you might just have to live with it as it is, even if it irks you (unless you have the urge to get modding yourself).

Nope.
I just subjected my crew to 3 days just sitting at 20m in the North Sea! Gauge showed 89/100.
They only bleated "Oxygen down to 25%" on the morning of the third day. Seeing as oxygen makes up 20% of atmosperic air, I dunno what they are complaining about!! They were all scampering about as normal too.

I think you will just have to suck it up, and live with it (despite its nonsensical nature).

It took 3.5 days before guage rose to 95/100 and I got the message, "We are out of oxygen sir, we must surface!"

Pressed on with the experiment, and we all died after 3 days 15 hours submerged. And all I got was the usual death sequence, and the sound effect of someone gagging... how dull!!

Thanks for your efforts,

with that high percentage shown, i assumed that the crew will not survive the first day. If it's just "UBI's way" then i can live with it, no problem. Just need to get used to.

The 10% warning is a core bug that also exists in SH4. The issue is the difference between 10% CO2 concentration and 10% on the meter, which are completely different. The rate of buildup is fine. The warning trips way too soon. The red line on the meter is what you should worry about as this is the actual 8% concentration mark. With normal underwater operations, there is no reason to ever worry about running out of air.

That being said...the game doesn't model the other atmospheric variable; oxygen concentration, either. Were it modeled, you would be required to worry about it separately and ensure it never fell below 17% concentration. If it did, you would either have to surface or sacrifice compressed air to flush out stale air and replace with the relatively fresh air in the compressed tanks. [I would like to see this bit of micromanagement in a mod, for realism]

Thank you too. I'd also appreciate that kind of mod, the more realism the better. If you're in a situation with a damaged sub and nice realistic repair times, this could get thrilling !

On the subject of oxygen levels how do you purge CO2 levels on the surface if the oxygen is not automatically refreshed. I've been surfaced for over three hours, have suffered no damage yet my CO2 level is at at 30% and climbing.
