i was wondering what type of sub you have when you first start out. is it the type viia. i was also wondering when i will have the option to upgrade to a new sub. thank you.

You start the war in 1939 with the VII A sub. Later if you sink some ships, you will be awarded new subs, and you have the option to accept it or not. I think there are four subs to be awarded during the campaign; VII A, B, C and VII C/41, but I'm not quite sure with the C/41. I haven't been able to get that far yet :)

There is a mod to give a type VII the specs of a type IX
(torps, speed, dive times,etc). But the work of 3d modelling the other boat types (inside and out) is a challenge that no one has yet surmounted.

The Type VIIC/41 is included in the game as playable unit (like the others Type VII versions).
