Hello
After a three year break from Sub-sim's I'm finally back for some nervy action again.
Played maaany hours on SH3, SH4 looked silly, but SH5 seems to be allright.
I had the grey wolves mod on SH3, and I would be very grateful if someone could recommend me some mods for SH5 that would give me some of the same experiences.
Cheers

Welcome aboard.
I'm in the same boat, an old SH3 GWX player from a few years ago returning to SH5. I bought SH4 and just never felt compelled to install it (the European theater has always been my interest).
Things don't look as easy as they used to be, definitely a lot of research and fiddling with various mods to bring the game up to par. I hope you're up for the challenge.
If all fails, back to SH3.
Happy hunting.

Wilkommen zürruck!! :)
I suggest sober's mod list. He has it in his signature, really convenient. I use it with few additions. It's the best most stable combination. No CTD whatsoever. When I tried to compile my own mod list I had CTD's regularly, a real nightmare.

Thank you all for very helpful advice!
As of yet, i must say, that the experiences from SH3 and GWX still have a high standing compared to SH5.
But I have started to install mods, and it's getting better by the minute. Looking forward to a weekend of hunting in the frigid waters of the north atlantic :)
I have to add, that this resurfacing interest for Silent hunter led me to visit our "local" u-boat pen "Dora" here in Trondheim. The bunker is still intact, although somewhat modernized. The pens by the waterline are still historically correct though, and it brings an eerie reminder of conflicts past... Just to observe the massive dimensions made me understand why these bunkers were impervious to allied bombing during the war...
anyways, Danke schön for all advice!

Hello
SH4 looked silly
SH4, silly? IMPOSSIBLE it's my favorite game and it has a full blown Atlantic mod named Operation Monsun and it has far less bugs then SH5 I recommend SH4 over SH5.

SH5 has a larger learning curve , There is plenty of resources to learn the how twos . I made anew to sail @ 100% . Sh5 to me has been the best simulation of them all , In my opinon the workload for solving firing solutions is slighty more difficult than sh4 , However I still play SH4 , I have became a better captain as a result of SH5 using methods that I have learned from Sh5 and the various hero captains that are in this forum ,,

Silent Hunter 4, I think, is the best.
