Out on my first mission for four years. Running GWX3 Gold. Fantastic mod. Two things I can't remember how to do. Is there a key in the game for bringing time compression down to 1X instantly? Or does it have to cycle back to 1X? Second question would be that I think I remember being able to drag a waypoint to a different position, but I can't figure out how to do that now?
Other than those two issues, the rest of it has come back to me pretty quickly.
I can't imagine a better U Boat experience than SHIII with GWX3 Gold. I'm sure that SH5 has its merits, but I wouldn't trade games! :DL

For your first question: Hit ESC and again ESC. TC will be x1. There may be a time lag if TC is high 512 or more.
Second question : Keep the mouse button pressed and drag it to move the waypoint (not very sure for this one)
Hope this helps.

Hitting Backspace will pause the game. Hitting it again will unpause it at 1x.
However, if you go into Silent Hunter III/Data/Cfg/Commands.en (or whichever language you're using) you can change this:
[Cmd6]
Name=Time_compr_normal
Ctxt=1,2,6,9
To look like this:
[Cmd6]
Name=Time_compr_normal
Ctxt=1,2,6,9
Key0=0x0D,,"Enter"
And you'll drop to 1x every time you hit the Numpad Enter key.

Yep. I'd forgotten how precise this has to be. You have to place the cursor directly over the waypoint you wish to edit so that the 'new waypoint' line goes away. Then you can drag the existing waypoint to a new point on the map. :)

To centre on the map where you want...press Ctrl and left click the mouse.

Hey, Jim, is there a mod that doesn't conflict with GWX that will make the crew fatigue factor less of an issue? I'm constantly getting the 'not enough men in the Diesel Engine room' message. I would have thought that on a WWII U boat, the men would know when to change shifts without the Captain telling them every shift. :DL

If you use SH3 Commander, there's an option in there to tone down or turn off fatigue entirely.

Hey, Mookie, nice to see you're still around these parts and helping others as always.:) Thanks for the info, but I'm really happy just running GWX3 Gold. :DL

Personally speaking I go with what Mookie has stated....the 'no fatigue' option that comes with Commander.

You need to trust us on this. SH3 Commander is bigger and more life-changing than any supermod. It lets you control many factors such as gun reload times and wave height variations with the click of a button. It lets you control your career in ways you can't imagine. It grants over 1.7 billion possible crew names. It lets you choose between regular SH3 and historic crew assignments. It gives historic names, cargo loadouts and crew numbers to ships you sink. As mentioned above, it lets you control fatigue values to the point of turning it off entirely. Best of all, it's not a mod, it's an external program that works with any supermod, so there is little or no conflict. I consider it as important as any supermod, if not more so.

I just wanted to jump in and echo what Steve said. The features possible with Commander are amazing and add so much to the game; plus it is very user-friendly.....a must have IMO.

Yeah, but to a technically challenged guy like me, it looks like a complicated install. I don't want to break what I have. :)

Actually it's really simple. Download it, look through the User Guide, ask question before you move anything. It really is worth it.

Having read the installation instructions for SH3 Commander into GWX3 again, it doesn't look that daunting. I'll give it a shot when I get home tonight. :)
Once I've installed it, do I then click on a new SH3 icon to open SH3?
mookiemookie

Yes, once you have your career up and running you simply open SH3 Commander and then there's a little checkmark at the bottom of the screen that you click to launch the game. Easy peasy.
ya I use no fatige, actualy a few campaings I did I died because my guys fell alsleep on the hydrophone, bunch of morons. Sure its unrealistic that their perfomance isnt degraded with fatige, but its very unrealistic that they fall asleep.

I just read through the 30 page SH3 Commander manual during my lunch break. This does look like an awsome addition to the game. Am I right in saying that I should check the 'rollback automatically after exiting SH3' option, so that SH3 Commander loads my files each time I launch the game?

The explanation is correct, but I think the "Yes" might be a little confusing. No, there is no new SH3 icon, nor do you ever click on the original. As explained, once you've created a career with Commander you will henceforth use the Check box in the lower right-hand corner to launch the game.

Thanks, Steve. Once I had read through the 30 page document, it all started to make sense. Thanks as always for taking the time to help. :)
Something that has not been mentioned yet in regards to compatibility between SH3 Commander and GWX3. You need to add some config files to the folderstructure of SH3 Commander. Make sure you have it, or else you get funky behaviour:

Thanks Steve, I read a bit too fast. I meant "yes" in the sense that "Yes, there's a new icon to click - the SH3 Commander Icon is how you launch the game."
Thanks for the clarification.

I was reading through this thread when I came across this:
Yeah, but to a technically challenged guy like me, it looks like a complicated install. I don't want to break what I have. :)
Wow! This is me. I have always wanted to try SH3 Commander but didn't for these very reasons. Afraid to do something wrong that I couldn't fix. Like TDK1044 I am a 'technically challenged' guy. Heck, I'm still looking for the pull cord. After reading about his success and all the help and encouragement he got I took the plunge. Happy to report SH3 Commander installed and working smoothly. Manual is very helpful and after a few test careers we're good to go. For me SH3 Cmd. bumps up the immersion factor 1000%. I really like the random settings for career length, crew choice, equipment malfunction etc. Very cool!
I'd like to thank TDK1044 for showing me the way, and thanks to mookiemookie, jimbuna, Sailor Steve, Bubblehead729, and other posters for input and encouragement.
"You need to trust us on this" Sailor Steve. Good stuff!
Thanks guys. :salute:
