View Full Version : Snorkle
I've added some mods, and now my sub has something that appears similar to a periscope that automatically raises when I dive until I dive too deep for it to breach the surface and then it goes back down.
Is that a snorkle, and does it actually work?

It's the radio rod, not a snorkel. Snorkel does work though and you have to enable it first before starting the game.

Hey Aegrim. I think I know what you are talking about I had the same problem. I don't think it's the rod antenna but the snorkel. It sort of sticks out from the watch tower right?? It shouldn't be there and it's green and bulky??
Well the thing you do is go to C:\(or whatever folder the game is on) Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\submarine\(7a, 7b, 7c, 7c41) In all of these folders open the file NSS_Uboat7(a,bc,c41). It's a SNS file. Open it with notepad. Go to sensor 15 it's the last one and you'll see that you have the start date somewhere in 1938. and TWO end-dates. Erase the start date and replace it with the first end-date. Replace the first end-date with the second end-date and simply after that delete the end-dat. Save and exit, repeat for every sub.
Now you have the correct start and end dates for the snorkel, since subs had snorkel since 1943.
Also remember that the Snorkel is a MOD!! So if you don't want the snorkel (only a handful of u-boots had snorkels in ww2) you an simply go into the SNS file again and simply put start date 0, or delete sensor 15 entirely. However I would suggest that before you delete anything you save the data in a newly created notepad file.
Hope this helps, fette beute!!!
