How do I use the sextant / stadimeter on board ??
For the stadimeter, have a look at stoianm's video tutorials, he used it quite often (probably in Chapter 9. How to use manual TDC)

It's a sticky thread on top of this forum
How do I use the sextant ??
a) For vertical use (taking the altitude of a celestial body, distance measurement)
- The sextant must be perfectly centered on the screen (the default position of the sextant).
- The sextant scale(60°) must perfectly cover the whole screen (bottom to top).
- The 0°-scale must be perfectly match with the sea horizon; difficult when the u-boot is rolling in the sea (100% realism).
Position error when measurering celestial bodies: +- 120 sm ( = +- 1° error) or more
Position error and other use: acceptable
b) For horizontal use (running-fix, 2-position-fix, measure the angle between any two landmarks)

- The sextant must be perfectly centered on the screen (the default position of the sextant).
- Best to begin measurement from the center-point of the screen.
Position error: acceptable

Unless I'm mistaking, a common occurance, then;
Position error when measurering celestial bodies: +- 120 sm ( = +- 1° error) or more
.....is in error.
There are 60 sm (see miles are the German version of nautical miles and the same as nautical miles) to one degree, thus, 120 sm equals two degrees , not one degree.
