...i think i have installed in the right order the recommended mod list EVEN THOUGH according to JSGME mod enabler some of them conflict(???) - so those that do, i have not enabled.
i can not get my watch crew to re-enter the boat, there doesnt seem to be a command for this + my keyboard functions dont exist. i am on my first patrol.
am i having the normal problems associated with begining on SH5?

also, how do i adjust my mouse sensitivity?

there are many more questions but i would be happy to have these answered:DL for now:damn:

i have to say the enviroment looks beautiful - seems like all the developers efforts went into the water:woot: if you get my unintended pun.

i think it may take a few more years yet untill SH5 has the stability of SH3. i feel like giving up. all day today i have percivered with SH5 and now i have to stop otherwise my eyes will bleed.

thanks for your help in advance:up:

Hi flag4:salute:

For your mods - you could try following the mods I have listed in this thread (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=190656). They are in the correct order and safe to overwrite. In fact some of them are ment to be overwritten:yep:

To get your crew inside - I am guessing you are getting the message "can't dive, crew onboard" or something like that.
This means you. So you have to go inside the boat before diving and the crew will follow (it you have mighty fine crew).

Sorry - not sure about the mouse:hmmm:

If you have more questions - just ask:DL

This is one of the great things about JSGME. The warnings it gives, however, are not always important. Every time you get that warning you should look at it carefully, because it also tells you exactly what the conflict will be. Often it is only that something like "readme.cfg" will be overwritten. If you get that you're okay, because you can read the readme in the mod's folder and the game doesn't use it at all. There are others that are equally harmless. Sometimes it will overwrite something you didn't care about, or something you wanted overwritten anyway. Sometimes the problem can be solved by disabling the first mod and enabling them in the opposite order. Any time you receive a warning and it's a mod you would like to use, just ask here. Someone familiar with those mods will be glad to help you figure out whether it's safe or not.

Ah - sorry, this is the second time I have suggested this setup and the user was unable to walk:oops:

This is because your keys have now changed - (part of stormfly's mod) - so now you walk with the arrow keys.

see here from his mod page:-
Dont forget to customize your "TheDarkWraith`s new UI`s options file" to assign your keyboard layout acordingly fitting to the allready existing key commands that come from Church`s Key command mod.

Known problems:
Dont give to much commands, without pauses in the chain... some sounds work parallel, otherwise something is lost or delayed, especially the sonar guy, if he is talking, you should wait with a new command until he`s finished with talking.

...not shure what is causing this exactly but sometimes if on or near periscope dept, "heding to view" and "course commands" using the compas isnt working, in this case simply give a leveling or dive command and the selected view to heading or clicked curse will be followed.

Sometimes, after a diving command is initiated, the crew wont climb down fast enough, or the sub wont dive at all, this happens often by giving the "goto snorcel or periscope dept" command from surface and/or after using time compression. In this case and for example periscope dept, i give commands twice ("D","D " followed by "P","P") in one sequence, pressing the keys not to short.

Compatibility with other mods or keyb. layout:
For merging with another "commands.cfg", simply copy over all the sound entrys into the new one. Make shure, if my section have a key bound, that you also bind a key for it. It may also work with other UI´s but need missing menue commands linked to commands.cfg for things like gun handling and so on. The SDL file is also important, there are many volume adjustments and other settings included, you can merge it with another one using S3D http://sh4.skwas.net/. If you like to install this over RDA 1.4beta, it is allready compatible regarding additional planes.

thanks SS. at the moment though, it just seems to get harder and harder - and one problem i have is time alotment.
with my new system i can load SH3 in under two minutes and be out sailing. with SH5 as it is its crash and recover crash and recover. i have followed tutorials to the letter and still it does not function as described - maybe its just me?
i think some poeple are naturally conversant with technology, me on the other hand is not - and some of the instructions for enabling the SH5 mods are - at the moment, unfathomable to me. its like reading a foreign language!!
what encourages me though is the modders damned persistence to get this sim up to (A) SH3 standard and i whish them well. but maybe i will have to wait untill a GWX comes along - an all-in-one fix. coz im not sure if i can spend so much time going back to it again and again. the game itself looks beautiful and i think its on the right path, so it may take another 12-18 months, in my opinion, before a one-fix all comes along to help the techno-newb like me get on board.
but i have afunny feeling i'll keep pecking away at it now and again because i will not be able to leave it alone!

cheers

Yes sure Flag I understand.

For anyone else who feels the same about loading so many mods - then I would suggest these 3 to totaly change your game experience.

Install in this order:-

TDWs UI (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166093)- allow to over write - updates the UI - (check that the folder you are going to install has a data folder inside it.)
OHII (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=189818) - allow to overwrite - campaign mod

I'm not sure what would be causing that. I have a six year old single-core system that doesn't even meet the minimum requirements, yet it loads and runs SH5. It has problems, as I described in my own thread, but it has not crashed once. I agree that a decent supermod would be nice, but even with one people are always creating new mods to add to it. In SH3 I use a supermod, but my additional mods list is huge.

Other people have made it work and are having a good time, so all I can suggest is to hang in and keep trying until it works for you.
