Hi.
I'm new and have been following this forum with interest since i got the game earlier in the week.
I have installed the following mods:
Generic Mod Enabler - v2.6.0.157
[C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\MODS]
Accurate German Flags
SM20
but i don't know if they are installed correctly.
Can someone tell me how i can tell?
Also, I was looking for the mods that allow me to do the following if anyone can point me in the right direction:
1. any essential bug fixes (torpedo promotion i've read about)
2. improve the nav map UI (a compass is added as the cursor)
3. other UI improvements such as having icons for each man in my crew down the left hand side (i thought his was the SM20 mod i installed, but i started a new career and i cant see any effect).
4. any other mods which improve the gameplay.
thanks!

I've read that, but here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166093
what in the name should i be downloading?
Its clear as mud. there are about three links for things that it modifies itself.
I've downloaded a file called 'NewUISH5_0_2_0_byTheDarkWraith.7z' but there is no info of what to do with it.
There are no *.7z files in the installation directory either which i would replace.

Where did you find v0.2.0? The current version is 6.9.0 :hmmm: Available in SH5 mods forum.

*.7z files are 7ZIP compressed files, use freeware 7Zip to decompress them.
The TDW UIs mod is a number of mods, you have to choose which you require, open the main folder, look inside the MODS folder and read the documentation.

Ah Neal put that up on my behalf. You don't want to use it, trust me. That version is SO old :yep:
Look in the SH5 mods forum and you'll find the updated version

Getting back to basics, For one, Welcome aboard mate. As was stated, the 7z files are the same as winzip files (basically) and if you right click on one, your computer "should" have a generic 7z opener.
Accurate German Flags; If you look at any German flag in your game, the mod is working if the center cross on all the red German ship flags is replaced with a Swastika. This will also tell you that your mod enabler is working correctly.
As far as the rest, slow down, take it easy and have fun modding your game. There will be moments when nothing seems right and then, WOW, your game is ramped up 100%.
You asked for a couple of mod suggestions, one is the latest version of the UI mod you mentioned. Try the "Dynamic Environment" mod found in the Mods Forum, it's great. "Mighty fine crew" is another.
There are so many more, but that's enough outta' me.
Good Hunting, Kaleun
