Man, hokey paint job aside this is a car I would purely love to own.

If Roscoe P. Coltrane is still trying to get those Duke boys, he may want to head to Arizona. The original “General Lee” from “The Dukes of Hazzard” TV series is set to cross the block at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction in Scottsdale, which starts on Jan 17th.
Known as “Lee 1,” this is the car seen flying through the air during the opening credits of the show, and was used during the filming of the first episode before being wrecked as it landed the famous jump. It was the first of more than 300 cars used during the seven-year run of the program. Only a couple of dozen are still known to exist.

The woman who is forever immortalized, by some sweetly cut short.... shorts; that we still refer to this day as "Daisy Dukes". :O:
Incoming Cathrine Bach pictures? :O:

From the article:

The orange 1969 Dodge Charger was discovered sitting in a Georgia junk yard about a decade ago by the founder of The North American General Lee Fan Club, Travis Bell, who paid less than a grand for it, according to a report from Inside Line. It then passed through several owners before one of them brought it back to Bell and asked him to do a complete restoration, which was completed in 2007.
A combination of original and reproduced parts, “Lee 1” is now in better condition than when Warner Brothers bought it used in 1978. The supposed converted stock car racer still featuring a roll cage, welded-shut doors, “01” numbering and Confederate battle flag on the roof.

I bet that restoration was expensive.

I'm sure it was. The famous jump in the opening credits bent that frame like a banana.

Was that not due to the fact Boss Hogg was hiding in the boot/trunk? :DL

Putting General Grant's name next to a flag under which he never fought, with 16 stars too many? :O:

Grant wasn't born in 1776 either Mister Muscle car critic! :DL

As for the horn according to the article it plays what I would call "Blood upon the Risers" (better known as Battle Hymn of the Republic).

I take it for Granted that it's ok to put your nation's foundation date onto the Yankee Charger! :)

No, I meant the horn of the "Lee 1" - if they only used it for the stunt sequence it could be that they didn't modify the horn. Without the right horn I would not buy it ;) - otherwise I would try to bid one dollar more than you so you can't repaint it! :O:

Well it's no more accurate than a 50 star flag. Besides General Grant was also once president of these United States. Now there may have less states than presently but there were more in his administration than there were during the Civil War so which one would be appropriate?

I have to admit that I wouldn't repaint the General Lee. Besides severely reducing it's resale value it'd majorly irritate the southerners, many of which I count among my personal friends.

Naw truth be told i'd sell it and buy an "unfamous" '69 Camaro so I could paint it however I wanted.

Hey I wonder what one of your hot Beemers would look like painted up as the "Marshal Hindenburg" and,... what would be the horn tune? :D

That's all the more reason to do it. Their rage and tears will give you at least 10 more usable horsepowers. :yep:

Well I value my live enough not to put a Prussian general on a Bavarian car - I don't want to be hunted down by our Southern German friends :03:
Besides BMW and hot don't belong together - the only cool one was the 1970s M1.

I'm more of an Opel GT man, but I couldn't find a roof picture (nobody takes a pic from above of his car) - so I chose our very own proletarian "muscle" car - the Opel Manta A (please don't look up its stats)

I proudly present: Der General Hindenburg: :DL

The appropriate horn sound would be "Heil Dir Im Siegerkranz" - which has the same melody as "God Save The Queen"
(yes, Hindi's title was Generalfeldmarschall - but try to put that on a car)
